Yup...I knew a guy like that...he had a van I looked at. I offered him $300 less. He says NOPE the price is the price. He advertised that van all over the place and never got his price. The van?...still sitting there 6 years later rusting into a heap. Literally. What a shame too...it was NICE.
lol... your friends really like to give you a hard time about your choice of cars dont they? I get that flack too. lol. Here is exactly what that local Colony Park wagon here looks like, only its dark blue instead of this color... this is a 1983 Colony Park, so I imagine that one thats local to me is a 1983-85 model. I dont think its an 1982, as I think they had a different grille than the 1983? I do know that local wagon appears to have a badly weathered instrument panel top, as there are huge holes around where the speakers are. I guess years of setting in the sun has taken a major toll. I guess these are fairly easy to replace?
Oh yeah, they love to give me the business. They know I love wagons and I stop and drool over every one I see and if I'm in a parking lot and there's one there I have to park by it, like I did with the 94 or so Roadie I saw today in the same colors as mine. Also, the Colony Park looked just like this, maybe a little darker paint color, likely from age though. And 137 was an exaggeration but I'd guess he was in his 80's.
A '68 just popped up on eBay at no reserve....... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NO-RESERVE-68-Colony-Park-Woody-31k-Miles-390-V8-Rare_W0QQitemZ300304998277QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item300304998277&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A10%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1308 Was the wood applique supposed to be upside down on the front edge of the fender?
Remember when Chevy was MAKING classic cars?..Caprice Classic,El Camino Classic. You could buy a classic car BRAND NEW!!! To end up with my 86 Colony Park,I went on the many AutoTrader sites.Strangely enough,it helps to not be specific. When I searched for Mercury Colony Parks,I got nothing. When I searched for Mercury stationwagons,I got nothing. When I searched for Mercury Grand Marquis,I had to look thru a bunch of sedans and a few coupes, but I found a Colony Park...Oh,and search for one using the greatest distance away option. Our Colony Park was only 35 miles away, but we had to have the site look for cars out to 200 miles, for her to show up in the results.
The Yacht Deck Woodgrain, they called it.Fits right in with that Long Live The Land Yacht motto you got there.FoMoCo asked for it special. It used to be exclusive to Colony Park.In 1968,it was. And,yes, the 68's were beautifull.I think Mercury Colony Park reached one of it's zeniths that year.
Yeah, that's awesome!! Yacht Deck! That's what I call all wagons of the full size persuasion, Yachts. My friends always are finding wagons for me, and whenever they point out a Taurus or something, I go "That's a mid-size, not a land yacht!"
In '68, you could even get the 'Yacht Deck Paneling' on a 2-door hardtop or convertible........ http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1968-mercury-park-lane.htm Does anyone remember these '67 AMC Rebel wagons......? http://www.bigflea.com/amc/ "Westerner" - White with simulated natural tan leather side panels "Mariner" - Blue with simulated bleached teakwood side panels "Briarcliff" - Red with simulated black camera grain learher side panels
I've got a page from a magazine that has an ad for that woodie option on it.The two-door coupe looks pretty damn good with the woodie on it.Wonder how many Mercury two-door coupes were got with that option on them...AND,I'd been to that site about the AMC wagons before. All good looking wagons.I liked the Westerner best. That embossed interiour trim tops anything else I've seen. Then the Mariner. At least they tell us how many of those were made.
Not in the southeast, but.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/merc...5290986QQsspagenameZRSSQ3aBQ3aSRCHQ3aUSQ3a101
Only $400...Makes one wonder what's wrong with it...Didn't look too bad, except for the paint getting worn off on the hood.No interiour shots. No underside shots...But then, for $400---
Oh...I know how that goes...In the two-three years after I lost my first Colony Park, there was what looked like an identical one down a side street, along a bus route thru a neighbouring suburb.Had no money to deal with, when I rode by on the bus,and it sat there in the same spot for months on end...And just as soon as I'd happened across a good sized lump sum of money!---it was gone.Nothing to deal for.
