I Love Tire Rack. Only thing is that by the time I have things shipped across the border, it is often cheaper to buy here. You are quite right, though. They have lots of information, which suits me just fine.
When I worked as a Volvo mechanic, there were a few people that had Hankook tires. They seemed alright, easy to balance and seemed to get a lot of mileage out of them. But that was 8-10 years ago. I just bought another set of tires for my new wagon, a '73 Buick Century. They are a set of coopers. I have the same coopers on my '78 Country Squire. So far they have been good.
My biggest reservation with Coopers is that of rolling resistance. The people I know who have them seem to get poorer fuel economy than I do. The Hankooks seem to roll fairly well. Keep in mind, old Nora is my only car, and I drive a LOT. I've put about 10,000 miles on the old girl since early February. Winter traction isn't a consideration, since I run Nokian Haakapiliittas in the winter. The old Pirelli P3000s were good for a 25% gain in economy compared to the Daytonas that were on my 92 Crown Vic when I bought it. That makes a huge difference to the fuel bills.
