I took a few pictures at the Chrysler show at Carlisle over the weekend. There were some interesting wagons, but since wagons were in the minority, I'll post links here to my pictures. There are a couple hundred pics at each link. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.395851097128613.83243.100001111775214&type=3&l=a99a1aae2c http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.395861547127568.83245.100001111775214&type=3&l=4187ead195 http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.395875880459468.83246.100001111775214&type=3&l=005b7936eb http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.395902737123449.83251.100001111775214&type=3&l=cd632fa40e http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.396000880446968.83274.100001111775214&type=3&l=225ce0a233 http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.396186403761749.83308.100001111775214&type=3&l=fdd1e8f2e0 http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.396259583754431.83318.100001111775214&type=3&l=3462098386 http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.396275227086200.83321.100001111775214&type=3&l=5c5f5ad414 http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.396282203752169.83322.100001111775214&type=3&l=1320c56739
Just the first link was quite a viewing. I'll get back to the rest. The wife's brother has his AAR he bought in '71, along with a '71 Challenger convert he bought in mid 70's, both tucked away. His best friend (at the time) and a friend of ours bought a 70 hemi cuda and still has it tucked away. Low miles on all of the above, none driven after mid 80's. Her other brother (late sadly) owned the 'cuda that eventually was the one Don Johnson auctioned at B-J. Al was dieing from lung cancer when he sold it for 15K with the 440 already in the car. Oh well....none of us in our group realized what those cars would eventually be worth.
Isn't the digital age great. I have many albums in a kit bag with photos from carslile. thanks for posting.
I filled up a 2 GIG SD card and started a second but was still on my first set of batteries. I remember paying $5 per roll of 35mm film and paying $9 per roll to get it developed. I would routinely take about 10 rolls of film at big shows like Carlisle and the Nationals. Now I take alot more pics, and its much cheaper. And by posting them on line, I don't even bother with printing them and filling up photo albums any more.
Thanks Jim. I'm not sure if I saw your '67 or not. Either way I missed yeah, SORRY 'BOUT THAT. I SPENT MOST OF MY TIME HAWGING ALL THE SPACE IN FRONT OF THE "MISTERS" I think MoparJohn waz there with his '69 too but I never caught him at his ride. He had it parked just down the same row from the Forward look group. WARM WASN'T IT?, Jer
I had my white 68 Barracuda fastback at the show. My wagon is still in a friend's garage in Massachusettes and I haven't seen it in person yet. I figured that if you were there you would be drooling over the 61 New Yorker wagon in building T all weekend. It was warm, but not as bad as one year when you couldn't walk more than 10 minutes before you needed to take a drink and find shade. One thing I did this year that really surprised me by how well it worked, was keeping a hotel town watered down and draped around my neck. Without that, I likely wouldn't have been able to keep walking all day long for all four days.
As a kid, my Mom's best friend had the exact colour combo 2 door, just put dog dishes an WW on it. However, I dout it had a ''real'' motor in it, most likely just a mom and pop slant of small V8
Yeah Jim it's a sweet car, John Cote is a friend. When I rolled up behind him on the rental Amigo last Saturday, I said in a voice loud enough for the whole building T to hear that I wanted to see the build sheet on that car. He spun around with a scowl on his face 'til he saw it was me and then just grinned and we shook hands. I had the Batwagon at Carlisle in '08 and I e-mailed him after the dust settled that year and got in his face for leaving drool all over my ride. He e-mailed back a full line of HA HA's. I helped a little with partz and communication when he was putting that car together. He prefers to line up all the Phillips Heads tho' and I don't Rite now that '61 New Yorker T&C 9 passenger is his "Trailer Queen". I THINK ONE OF SEVEN MOPARS IN HIS PLAY PEN Thought you fInally had your '67 home? Come on Man, you can't drive just a tail gate. Wagons- Ho, Jer
I love that 61. It is one of my top favorites of all time. I'm not particularly fond of light blue, but, I'll take it. It's drop dead gorgeous!BUT...frankly, I like these old wagons to DRIVE. I'm not a garage queen kind of guy. So...I would rather have Big Barneys wagon. I like the color and BB drives it. I never could understand having a beautiful old classic and have it sit in a garage somewhere. BB's car is also drop dead gorgeous and I'll take it as a summer driver!
