That's like that song "Fifty ways to love your liver" !!! When it's over, its over. Otherwise it's like trying to find the drainplug in the swamp, when you're surrounded by alligators. :)

Now which car do I load up next? :taz:

My thoughts, exactly. The sooner I could kick rocks, the better. Good riddence with the mortgage, high heating bills and upkeep. Oh! And by the way, I hope the boyfriend likes shovelling an acre of snow.:badwords:

2.) 1978 Ford Thunderbird Diamond Jubilee (silver blue)
3.) 1976 Ford LTD Brougham (cream)
4.) 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham (cat puke yellow)
5.) 1979 Volvo 240 DL wagon (mustard yellow)
6.) 1981 Volvo 240 DL wagon (dark red)
    7.) 1983 Volvo 240 GL wagon (white)
8.) 1985 Volvo 240 DL 4-door (gray, used for parts car, but drove it anyway)
    9.) 1985 Volvo 240 DL 4-door (dark red)
10.) 1978 Toyota Corolla wagon (Kermit frog green)
11.) 1979 Lincoln Town Car (triple black)
12.) 1979 Lincoln Town Car (triple gray, again another parts car I ended up driving)
13.) 1975 Lincoln Mark 4 (silver with blood red inter)
15.) 1996 Lincoln Town Car (forest green)
16.) 1983 Ford LTD Crown Vic wagon ("S" model, state of Wyoming car, gold)

    18) 1980 Buick Regal (grass green, white top)
19.) 1977 Olds Delta 88 (any gray color of primer)
20.) 1988 Ford Fiesta (gun metal gray)

22.) 1977 Ford LTD Country Squire wagon (red, own now)
23.) 2004 Ford Mustang (black, own now)

There is another car in there, but I simply can't think of it. Most of the cars you see listed are cars from estate sales. Most where really clean cars and sold in a time (mid/late 90s) where the value was low. So in HS I could afford buying and selling them for a higher price. Too bad too, some I wish I would have kept. The '77 Olds, '80 Buick, '75 Pontiac, and '88 Ford all ended in demo durbys.

I have been buying cars since I was 15........now that Im back in college, its hard to do what I used to do. But once I'm out and got my job in order, Ill return to what I used to do. Cars, its my addiction. But some reason, wagons hold me better than any other model.

I didn't see a "Gremlin" nor did I see a "Pacer", or "Mustang II", of any year, on anyone's list.Unless I missed one somewhere..Someone has to have had one at some point in time or another. However, I completely understand the reluctancy to admit to, or otherwise advertise the fact that you've ever owned one, of any of the three. I wouldn't tell a sole, if I'd ever owned any of the three either....LOL.

Almost bought a new 1968 Javelin. That was an exciting car, but I whimped out and got a comfy 1968 Mercury Brougham with 10,000 miles on it for the same money. My brother had a Gremlin, but it sounded like a tin can, both when you closed the doors and when it ran. :)

When I was a little kid, I remember this couple that lived on the end of my block. As kids, we really didn't like these people, they would yell at us if we rode on their driveway or walked on their grass.

But what I remember the most, is that, every few years they always had a new set of cars. When I asked my folks what they where, I remember my dad laughing and saying "Son, Its an AMC Pacer...they don't make them anymore....but that couple still must think they do.....I don't know where in the hell they keep finding them."

I still remember a med. blue and an orange one pair they had.....and remember thinking they looked like roller skates my baby sitter had. They also had a snot green one and a baby poop looking one. By about 1988, they moved onto Fiero models.......

I'd have to list approximately 775 cars and trucks owned since I was just 12 years old, were I to actually spell out all of them. Plus four motorhomes, two travel trailers, and three motorcycles.

    Get yourself a snack first.........

Surprised I haven't posted in this thread before......

    I made some notes.......

    1969:
’63 Olds Cutlass 2-door post coupe (beige/gold color)

    1970:
’64 Pont Ventura 2-door hardtop (turquoise green)
Power windows is why I bought it. Slapped on a Earl Scheib paint job after a guy backed into the right door

    1971:
’66 Chevy Corvair Corsa turbo coupe (yellow)
Fun car, but I was dumb, broke kid at the time I owned it. Don't think it ever ran right while I had it (but never actually quit on me)

    1972:
    ’65 Dodge Dart 270 2-door post coupe w/ fact. A/C (brown)

    1973:
’68 Pontiac Firebird HT, 350/pg (BRG)
First car I financed. Only kept it a few months, until Marcia & I decided we could make due with just one vehicle for a while.

    ’68 Chevy Camaro HT, 6-cyl.pg(maroon)
Marcia's car from high school. Ran awful...

    1974:
’69 Ford Thunderbird 4-door landau (white)
Picked it up from a Ford dealer for $1k. Gas crisis hit soon after.

’72 Ford Courier P/U, with camper shell (light green)
You've seen some pics of this one, but here it is again:

    1975:
’74 Mazda RX-4 Sedan, automatic (blue)
First new car, for the wifey. I believe we still had the Courier.

    ’74 Mazda RX-4 Wagon, automatic, A/C (yellow)
Liked the sedan so much, we bought a wagon to match. My first station wagon! Sold the Courier

    1980:
Along about 1979 or so, I was assigned a company car. We kept the RX-4 wagon during this period, selling the sedan. After a while, Marcia decided she didn't like the wagon, and it was starting to have a few issues.....

’79 Toyota P/U, Deluxe longbed, with automatic. (off-white, with stripes)
Marcia's sister and her husband had just purchased a '80 Toyota 4x4 and raved about it, and we had enjoyed the Courier while we had it, We were also starting to think about buying a house, so a P/U would come in handy there. We were out roaming one day near home when we happened to see this clean, 1-yr old P/U at an RV dealer of all places. The first owner had dressed up the 'plain' truck with the side stripes off of the fancy SR-5 version. Also had automatic, which meant Marcia could drive it easily. Turned out to be one of our most dependable vehicles ever. Took it all over on vacations. Around '82 or so, we bought a used cab-over camper unit for it. I installed some Helwig overload springs, which turned it into a pretty good camping rig, if a bit tight on space.

    1984:
'85 Nissan 300ZX Turbo (dark grey)
Time for a bit of fun. I still had a company car (by this time a '83 Pontiac 6000 sedan), and we still had the Toyota P/U, but we decided to splurge a bit. Marcia wanted some driving fun. She liked the new 300ZX's – a lot. We did check out other vehicles, though – Mitsubishi Starion, Toyota Supra, even looked into some material on a Maserati Bi-Turbo (remember those?). Ultimately, she picked the Nissan. She didn't care about 'speed' too much, she just wanted comfort and looks. I did some thorough investigation on this one, since we would be buying it new. The dealers were loading them up – leather, electronic gauges, etc. I decided the Turbo would be worth it, and I wanted leather, but I did not want the electronic gauges. Took a bit to find one exactly like we wanted, but it so happened we found one at our local Nissan dealer in Anaheim – saw it one Sunday morning before they opened. Went back later in the day and took it home.

    1985:
’79 Ford E-250 supervan (unfinished conversion) (orange)
This was one of my mistakes. We decided we wanted to go camping more, with a bit more room and comfort. I thought a good-sized van conversion, towing a medium-sized travel trailer would make a good rig. Needed the tow rig first. Sold the Toyota P/U (insert 'sad' smiley here). Bought this used E-250 thinking it would make a good tow rig. Unfortunately, I didn't buy it already finished. It had interior paneling, 4 captain's chairs, and that's about it. It needed a lot to make it the way I wanted it, and I think the enormity of the project got to me, so I sold it off after a few months, without doing anything to it.
'83 Ford E-150 Van Conversion (charcoal / red)
Another bad choice. The total opposite of the E-250. Where the E-250 was huge, had enough power, and rode hard, the E-150 was smaller, overly plush, ugly, low on power from the 302, and was mushy on the road. Hated it.

    1985:
'83 Chevy G20 van conversion (blue, 3-tone custom paint)
This one was OK. Had the 305 Chevy, and seemed to have adequate power. Rode reasonably well on the ¾ ton suspension. (didn't want another ½ ton van). For our first time out with a travel trailer, we rented a unit for a nice vacation to the Grand Canyon. The van performed admirably. (I did put on a transmission cooler before the trip). Absolutely no problems. This pic was taken before that trip:

After this trip, we started thinking about buying a trailer. Ultimately, we decided that a 5th wheel trailer would be better for us, so the van conversion had to go.

    1986:
    ’85 GMC S-15 P/U (extended-cab, 2.8 V6) (blue / silver)
Beautiful truck, loaded to the gills (PW, PL, tilt, cruise, etc...) But for the life of me, I don't know why we bought it (Well, Marcia liked it because it was so cute – yeah, that was it). I should have known that it was not going to be powerful enough to tow a full-size 5th wheel travel trailer – and it wasn't.

    ’86 Mitsubishi Galant (silver)
During this period, we were also trying to start a family (by adoption), and the county adoption people asked all kinds of questions, like “What kind of safe vehicle are you going to transport your baby in?”. We couldn't use my company car for that purpose, unfortunately, since during the day I would be at work. The 300ZX Turbo had to go. We test-drove some others, including the brand-new Acura Integra, but liked the features, comfort and pricing of the Mitsubishi Galant best. You sure don't see any more of these around. Where have they all gone? We had the Mitsubishi a full two years before any kids came along. Could have been enjoying the Z instead.......

    1987:
My time frame is a little hazy on vehicles we had during this period – lot going on, lots of changes..... I'm lumping the next three all together because they all served one purpose – tow vehicle
    '78 Ford F-250 crew cab, short bed, 400 (?), auto (beige/brown)
'86 Ford F-350 crew cab, long bed, diesel, stick shift (red)
'79 Ford F-350 crew cab, long bed, 460, auto (blue / white)
After a short trip with the new 5th wheel TT, being towed by the S-15, I knew for sure it wasn't up to the job. First bought the '78, and I liked it for the short bed. It developed major engine problems after a week though, so the dealer took it back, and we made a deal for the red '86 diesel. The truck was a sharp looker, but was a bit bare-bones, only having the 'XL' trim. Put some nice wheels and big tires on it, then had to have the clutch and flywheel replaced. Pretty hard to drive around. Sold it, and bought the '79, which is the truck we used for a few years. It wasn't totally reliable, but we didn't worry – much.

    '62 Ford Thunderbird (turquoise green)
My first 'project vehicle'! I had always loved these 'bullet birds' as they are called, after my mom's boss showed me his back in the mid 60's when I was a kid. Unfortunately, what I thought was a good running car, turned out to be a turkey with a spun main bearing. Then the kids came along, and there went my restoration budget.

    1989 (January):
'84 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park (white – wood grain)
Our first daughter came along in May of 1988. After using the Galant at the 'mommy vehicle' for a few months, I decided that it just wasn't that convenient schlepping all that gear around in a sedan. Now Marcia wasn't all that enthused about driving a 'station wagon', but somehow I convinced her. I noticed our local Chevy dealer had (what seemed to be) a nice CP on their used lot. We went in, took it for a test drive (no issues), and made the deal, trading in the Mitsubishi. One week later, we had a mini-vacation scheduled, dropping off our 8-month old daughter with Marcia's sister. That weekend, southern California was hit with a huge storm. We left on Friday night from Orange County, but had to drive to Camarillo to drop our daughter off first. Camarillo is north-west. Vegas is north-east. What would usually be a 2 hour drive, even in rush hour, took 5 hours. During the drive to Vegas in the CP, the heater wouldn't work, an omen of things to come. We got into Vegas at about 3 AM, Saturday. That day was uneventful, But on Sunday morning, as we pulled into a coffee shop parking spot, I noticed a puff of 'steam' coming up around the gaps in the hood. I wasn't particularly concerned, I'd look at it after breakfast... Walking across the parking lot to the front door of the restaurant, I then heard, “Mister, your car's on fire.....” Towed to the Las Vegas Mercury dealer, insurance called, rental obtained, wagon totaled (electrical short). Had to take the rental back to Vegas 2 weeks later to avoid a $200 drop-off fee. Leaving work at around 12:30PM, did the 260 mile drive in 3 hours, 20 minutes. Was back home that same evening.

'88 Ford Taurus GL wagon (silver)
I wasn't going to get the Mrs. to go for another Colony Park, but we did have to find another vehicle, and fast. Best we could do on short notice and within budget was this almost-new Taurus from the local Ford dealer. It was a totally unremarkable vehicle. I barely remember owning it. It did have the larger 3.8 V6. I do remember hating the upholstery.........

    1991(?):
    '88 Olds Cutlass Ciera sedan 4-cyl (gold-tan)
    ’84 Dodge Colt Vista (maroon)
Getting into an austere period for us, now had 2 young daughters, and only one income, we down-sized, first to a '88 Olds Cutlass Ciera sedan (gold), then to the Dodge Colt Vista, purchased off of an ad from world-famous Longo Toyota. The Vista NEVER gave us any trouble, and was quite a versatile vehicle. Just imagine a small Dodge Caravan, and then shrink it to about 90% of it's original size. That's what the Vista was. It wasn't fast with the automatic and A/C, but it was OK. Great on gas, too.

'88 Ford Aerostar Eddie Bauer (blue/gold)
Replaced the Colt Vista. A very nicely-appointed minivan. It was just the short-version Aerostar, and as such only had the smaller 2.9 V6. Had very comfortable seats. I remember taking a solo trip with the kids at Christmas time (kids probably 4 ½ and 3). The middle seat could fold down flat up against the third seat, so on open stretches of road with no traffic, I let the girls unbuckle and they had a big soft surface to play on. Made what could have been a stressful drive into a very nice one.

1993: Isuzu Rodeo LS 2WD, auto (white)
Marcia wanted an SUV instead of driving the van. She went and picked this one out herself. Wish I had some pics of this one. Looked pretty sharp – had a brush guard installed on the front (painted white to match). Has the new Isuzu 3.2 V6, which was a terrific engine.

    1996:
’93 Chevy Astro van LT (turquoise blue-green) Friends had one of these, and I liked them. Kids were getting bigger, and we now had to have room for their friends, softball gear, and everything else..... Great driving van. The LT package turned an ordinary van into something really comfy. Has all the bells and whistles, too.

    '97 Ford F-250 Supercab P/U 5.4 V8 (green / silver)
After selling our 5th wheel travel trailer back around 1992, we now had a travel trailer again, this time a conventional type. Found this truck again at our local Ford dealer. At the time, Ford was selling their 'new style' F-150's, but the new Super Duty trucks were not out yet – they were still selling the old-style F250's and F350's. The truck I bought was basically a 'light-duty' F-250, using the new-style body with some heavier-duty components underneath, like 7-lug wheels.

    '96 Chevy Blazer LS (blue)
Sold the trailer.......traded the F-250 for the Blazer. Although comfortable, I don't think I really liked the Blazer all that much.....

    2003:
’03 Ford Explorer XLT, 2wd (white)
A new vehicle, and it turned into a prettly good one. Comfortable, reliable, even after almost being totaled (then repaired) in a major accident.

    '00 Audi A6 Avant
I lost my company car due to a job change, so I needed something. I saw this advertised at a local Mitsubishi dealer on their used lot, for 2-3 weeks, for a lot on money. In a moment of stupidity, I made what I thought was a low-ball offer to them for it – and they took it. Joke was on me. It was a beautiful car to drive, but I was unprepared for the maintenance and repair expenses. Almost went broke owning it.

    2005:
’03 Ford Focus ZTW wagon (French Blue)
One of my best purchase decisions, ever. In January, we were out at the same local Ford dealer making a deal for our older daughter's '04 Ford Focus (she's still driving it). While standing in the lot, I mentioned to the Mrs. that there was a very nice Focus wagon that I had seen at another Ford dealer a few miles away. (I may have even taken a test-drive in it previously). She knew I was having issues with the Audi, and it was costing more money. She told me to go ahead and get it. So we did – purchased 2 used Foci on the same day, from different dealers. This was not your ordinary Focus. Had the ZTW package, which included 16” alloy wheels among other items. Fully loaded, including leather and a power moon roof. Also had the larger 2.3 liter PZEV engine.

    '06 Chevy HHR
Totaled the Focus on October 27, 2010 in a solo roll-over accident into a snow bank. No injuries. Still wanted a small wagon. Probably should have looked for a small SUV, like a Subaru Forester, or maybe a Ford Escape, but instead I went for the Chevy. It drove great, and had enough power with the 2.4, but I didn't LOVE it........

'81 Pontiac Bonneville Safari (white, wood grain)
Ford Explorer sold, wife switches to the HHR. Found the Way Back Machine in the summer of 2011 on a Craig's List ad from LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Priced pretty high then, it was significantly lower over a year later when I started to get really interested. Initially I was looking for another Mercury Colony Park, I got re-interested in this one. Always loved Bonneville Safaris....

    2013:
'12 Ford Edge SEL AWD (white)
For the Mrs. - Been a wonderful vehicle so far.

Wish I had taken more pics of the vehicles I owned back in the early days....
