Started re-assembling the seats. I had already taken the upholstery off to clean up the frames (rusty, crusty - replaced springs, refinished the armrests, etc.). They're ok, but they're gonna get new fabric next year. It's really worn in spots. I did re-Dye the carpet sections on the buckets and door panels. I should have bought the proper D-Ring pliers. What a pain to crimp the loops back on with regular pliers!:banghead3: Anyway, I'll finish up tomorrow. Everything is done except the rear fold-down backrest. This week is promising good working weather, so I'll be updating more. Maybe we can haul out the popcorn and watch a Donuts-In-The-Snow video next week!
You don't have a 2-bay garage you can beam-up, huh? 70 degrees, and I've got -24 degrees F!!!! Words don't do justice to my pain!
My wife and I was at Sams Club over the weekend they had a portable car garage made of a light canvas and poles. For $298.00 Do y'all have a Sams Club there?
We've got others here with similar systems, but I've been 'working' the wife about a real garage, and she likes my plan. Every time I have to paint something in my shop, a wiff of paint comes up, and every time the heat bill comes up, she asks me more details about my 'free heat' ideas. I'll be ok this week, really. We're going to be around 16 to 24 degrees by mid week, and then another few more in the next week. I'm pushing for this week though.
Not this kid! In the summer it's black flies and mosquitoes or wasps. I have no ambition of singing Soprano freezing off the family jewels! I'll be out there shortly, cleaning off last week's snow, and get some more wiring placement done. I'm gonna make up a custom circuit tester (lightbulb, different connector clips, a ground clip and a hook to suspend it while I'm at the other end, so I can see if we're good.) I had to merge the two harnesses from the I6 - '78 and mine for some of the optional stuff (Cruise control, MSD Wiring, Heated back window.) Mine had a Points distributor and this one is a Dizzy II, plus the Alternator is different (100 AMP) side clip. Ain't no time to fry the sweet thing! :banghead3:
Just finishing the seats. We never got warm enough to work outside. Wednesday looks good, and most of next week. Frustrating. I froze my butt off changing anti-freeze and filters for a neighbour, but the motor helped keep my hands warm.
HandyAndy came over and took some pics. I'll post them when he uploads them. They do look good. We took a few shots for you folks in the warm zones. Don't want to leave you unable of dreaming of a White Christmas.
