The dispatcher likely has an idea where the truck is at all times. They might be a better source of info. Just an idea.

Nice Poncho wagon. A Poncho motor would be great. 350, 389, 400, 455, or even a Sprint 6. Also splitting the bumper and recessing the bumper would give it a more late 60s early 70s look.

The Safari is on the truck, but as of this morning, it was still in Wisconsin. Dispatch talked to the driver who said he was having problems with the hydraulic lines on the auto carrier trailer (froze up?). He expects to be in Portland next Monday or Tuesday.

Monday or Tuesday.....Jesus! :banghead3: I think I'm going to call in a prescription for a few Valium so I can preserve a few shreds of my sanity during this looooong wait. Hang in there Krash and be careful not to watch too much daytime tv while waiting by the window...you might decide to drive yourself right off the fiscal cliff  Your auto transporter will be in my prayers tonight!

TopherS lives in Portland. I'll just have him wait by the window and give me a call when he sees it drive by........

Lowely 307? I happen to love my 307, and, for the record, all 307's that found their way into 80's B bodies where Oldsmobile Manufactured, none had two barrels, it's an entirely different engine from the Chevy 307 of the 70's.

Anyway, if it's an 86+ it's got roller lifters, a swirl port intake and heads, but you can't really do much about that, and you don't really want too, it gives hte car a lot of low end. They are 7A heads, the non swirl port heads are 5A. I know a little about these motors, and I can say mine (Non roller lifters) is great.

My father built the 307 in my car about ten years ago, "RV" cam, 85 block, 86 7A heads and intake, it's got a rebuilt ECC carb on it, gonna remove that and the distributor, after that the motor will have no emission controls. It also has aluminum pistons, think they where iron stock.

If it will pass where you live, I recommend removing the emission controls, swapping the carb for an aftermarket, dis too, will greatly improve the fuel economy and driveability. When we bypassed the smog pump and related controls we got another 2MPG out of the car. The computer doesn't seem to care, the car is not running rich, or idling funny. Though it won't have a say before long.

Alternatively, swap the motor entirely, personally, that would be my option. But I'm just some kid to you probably, so, take my advice with a grain of salt, or as an owner of such an engine, either way, hope I can help. For the record, whenever my 307 kicks it (Hopefully not for a long time), I am going to swap it to a 350.

Side note, the sound sure ain't lowly from the 307 in my car. :D

Lastly, enjoy the B body, I love mine. I like the Pontiac's, but I'm an Oldsmobile guy, so I have to at least try to stand up for the 307. :D . Sure it ain't a powerhouse, but mine's pushing around 200 horse, and 300 foot pounds, which is plenty.

Well, I hope the Safari has made some travel progress today, but in reality, I don't know for sure. Driver seems to have an aversion to human contact......
