That's a '71-'72 Olds 4-4-2 O.A.I. hood and the whole skin was fiberglass and was bonded to a steel frame.

They do sell fiberglass repo's. There was a place making them with the steel frame but I heard there are problems getting them anymore and they were real expensive.
The originals can sell from $2500 to 5000 bucks and guys buy whole cars to get those hoods.

With the differing rates of expansion and contraction between the different materials, especially with engine heat, I don't think you will ever bond it without eventually cracking as said before. If they made one out of steel you could weld it to the hood and lead it in.
It wouldn't crack but it would weigh a ton.:)
If you could bolt the 'glass scoops to a steel hood and leave the seam unfilled like Olds did with the earlier H/O type "mailbox" scoops no problem. I dont think it would look that bad if the scoops were designed for that type mounting.
I'm keeping the regular old hood on my Vista Cruiser to be different, more have those outside air induction hoods than not anymore it seems.

I looked at that car years back and I'm so glad I got the stars out of my eyes and didn't buy that thing for 5K.
I saw it last spring at a cruise and it looks exactly the same, it does have a clean southwest body.

I like the scoop you showed but I'm not sure how it would look on a 84 Custom Cruiser.

Don't they make bolt on scoops with a gasket anymore? Sounds like a cleaner solution. Heck, especially if you do a black scoop. You could take on and 'glass in some weld nuts or other fasteners, and bolt the thing on without all the resulting mess??? Yes?
