My dad had congestive heart failure and i know how it works as the older brother has it now but is in denial. How many trips to hosp. does it take to wake up! He doesn't remember how it was with his father! but i guess now he is better taking his water pills. My Dr was concerned about putting me off "till surgery "but i assured her i wasn't giving up while on ltd blue cross will retrain and help find you a job you can do with your limatations.
Nope never give up. Forgot about those water pills. I take one tiny pill every morning. Yes, they work until around 1PM. If we are going to town or traveling I don't take one. Seem to help. I still don't know why hip surgery caused this water problem and why it continues after. I do know many older people who haven't had surgery still need the water pills. The good thing for me is it gets me off my lazy butt and in the bathroom every 30 minutes till afternoon. I know I need to walk but finally just got lazy. We moved here 20 years ago this month with a five year old. I walked him 1/2 mile to the school bus and back. I stayed outside messing with cars and the yard often till bed time. My wife actually brought meals outside. The hip replacements didn't slow me down. Knocking my eye out and having a pupil that is wide open made me spend more and more time inside. Even after I told others to get off their butts I didn't listen. :banghead3:
Congrats GN, hope Mom and baby are doing fine. Yet another reason to take it easy work wise...... your gona need your knees to catch all the rug rats and yard apes when they come visit Grandpa
Yup.......stay as active as you can and keep a positive attitude. Don't let the aging stuff get you down. I've been fighting cancer for 5 years. Had a heart attack 2 and a half years ago. Still run my business, but only four days a week. My 5 acres is all cleared off of everything but living cactus and trees (122 trees, to be exact), so I can stay busy with the yard work, but only work outside this time of year until about 11am, gets too hot. Then I get inside my shop with the AC on, and play with my 56 Chevy....gotta get that thing running soon. Gonna be 68 in August............already lived longer than any male in my family. Positive attitude! BTW, GN.......600 lb pies? Around here, they only weigh a couple pounds.....they're easy to handle that way...........Congrats on the new Grandbaby!
Forgot to say congrats on the new Grandbaby! Just think a few years ago we were that size. Buster Bill you counted your trees? All I know is we have five acres and a bunch of trees here and there. Our cactus are less than a foot tall.
I once worked in a factory that made malt syrups and yeast. They made a batch of dough every day to test the yeast. When the mixer guy went on vacation I made large vats that resembled cement mixers of malt syrups and dough. Altho after five years working there I personally never made much dough!
The pie isn't 600lbs...then bowl is... Your right a positive attitude is key for a healthy life. AAAhhhh...congratulations Granddad.
Praying for you, GN....... That arthritis is bad stuff. I've got the 'Rheumatoid' type, slightly damaged a couple of my finger joints but thankfully it's under control with some meds. I can sure feel it when the pills run out. Hang in there... Marshall
My wife has the rheumatoid type weather changes bother her hands she is mostly under control with a good rheumatoligist.
Saw the surgeon no knife for me till they replace them when i'm 65+ she said " its only pain work through it not like its cancer and going to kill you" Cortisone shots if they last 6 months and lose some weight .
Good luck with the knees. I had both hips replaced years ago two months apart and after the first week was walking mormally. I always waddle like a duck so that's normal. As for the shots, they tried that first on my hips. Lasted about a day but from what I heard nsurance required they try it. Getting old is for sissies.
