All in the Family

As a few know we adopted our first grandson after his mother, our second son's wife, rejected him. Steven is now 26. He and a few friends got a young druggy pregnant. Steven was the lucky father. That girl rejected her daughter who became a foster child.
Our oldest son, 56, and his wife 50, could not have children. They hated seeing the baby being passed around to other poor druggy rednecks so became foster parents in hopes to adopt. This wasn't easy. Both work full time.
After six months of worry and raising Isabella, yesterday around 1PM they offically became her parents.
So we are keeping it all in the family. With luck the heavy smoking, heavy drinking, drug adict mother did not pass anything on to the baby who is very healthy and intellegent. Another lucky kid in a mixed up world.

Son is a mail carrier. He tried to mail isabella to us.

That was where he works out of. He has been worried since February but he does eat very well.
He bought that carrier to haul his garbage cans from in the country to the dump. Added lights now.
When he hauls the garbage and Isabella they all get strapped down good with rachet straps.

 

Looks like Isabella's in good hands now.

Bungie cords stretch when little kids wiggle around. Rachet straps keep things firmly in place. Also bungie cords have those nasty little bent wire connectors on the ends. Safety first.

Lights have since been added.

 

I think this is great We hear of and know of kids like this that never stood a chance from day one because of......

...... And this little girl has the chance to make it!

 

It's hard to say how she would have ended up. It hasn't been easy for our son and wife since both leave early for work quit a drive from home in the country. Son calls the baby sitter day care "school". He sends a phone photo nearly everyday and Isabella is smiling.

She even likes the sofa we've never seen in the house we've never seen.
Hope she don't pee on grandma's couch.

 

That's great! My sister and brother in law's 2 kids are adopted because they couldn't have kids. Their oldest is actually my brother in law's biological nephew that came from circumstances similar to what you described. My niece is biracial and was given up by a young couple since neither family could except a biracial child. No matter your opinion, the child had no say in it and every child should know love and I just feel some families are chosen to do so because not everyone can handle what comes along with it. My wife and I keep my niece some weekends and we take her for ice cream and stuff and people's eyes are quicker than their tongue. The looks we get at times!

Thanks Dennis. Since this forum group is one big happy family and a few others have added baby pictures I figured why not wake up the members.

Our oldest son and his wife traveled the world a lot. She is from the UK. They probably made their last trip to Mexico after they took custody because it was already planned.
This six months drug by not knowing if they'd get to keep the baby.
In a way they are too old to start a family but had this chance and are happy. It kept us young adopting our first grandson just before I retired and it's been quite an experience.
As far as biracial one of many potential daddys is black, another Mexican. She's the type girl who loves all men with drugs, cigarettes, booze, and ****.
Down here it's common to see mixed races everywhere so people are used to it. We were shocked when first moving here to find how many grandparents are raising kids.
It's not like it used to be and that's sad.

Thanks everyone. I still feel this station wagon forum is one happy family. In the beginning station wagons were people haulers. Dogs, cats, and kids are people and early on the station wagon became the vehicle of choice for many families.
Since there were updates I figured I'd just add the latest update on the happy baby. We went back to Illinois this past September to help celebrate Isabella's first birthday and sort of an official adoption party. It was a small affair, as our son's wife doesn't like people. We have no idea how many friends, relatives, and co workers she invited out to their country home. But a little over 65 showed up for a great party.
Sadly she o nly got 65 more or so toys and some clothes.
