Mine has a pretty amazing story too. Began with a stay over in Cheyenne and an emergency brake cylinder repair (in the am) to the rear left, which let go on the Interstate as we rolled into town.
The 327 ran strong but the carb was so lean she had trouble over the I-70 pass in the Rockys and then kept vapor locking through the desert stretches but only quit once. Lost a nice center cap off one of my Rally wheel (The '68 and newer variety). But that wasn't the worst part... a couple days prior to loading down, I was taking it our to my mechanic when, upon a moderate launch after setting at a red light, the rear end let go
with a very big thud and a strong rear end hop. U-joint? No. Left side control arm bracket succumb to previously undetected rust. The only rust on the whole car!
My mechanic, a top of the field body and frame man, said the rail was shot, even though it looked fine. He boxed it in but said it wouldn't hold forever and a new frame was going to be necessary if I was going to keep the car. Probably were plenty to be found in sunny, dry SoCal but I spent everything I had to fix it and to get us out there
so, sadly, I had no choice but to sell it. Had I known at that time, within 8 months I'd be
working a job that I still have to this day, I'd like to think I'd still be driving it, stronger than ever... Later I'll tell,..."the rest of the story..." (The short version, I sold it to a 'friend' cheap, with an agreement I'd buy it back once I got a good job.)
    The best laid plans....
