Looks post-1955, as the signage for U.S. highways were brought into the same standard as the signage for the then-new Interstate signage standards.
My brother Geoff used to drive a Petey of that approximate vintage, and color, but the striping was squared off, and it might've had the rectangular headlamps, I can't remember.
Obviously a photo taken after a shuttle landing, out near Lancaster, Ca. Shuttle would have to be trucked back to Edwards Air Force Base to be hoisted up onto the 747...... Around 1989, we took our '79 F-350 crew-cab and 5th wheel TT out that way to watch one of the shuttle landings. Surprisingly, the shuttle didn't land inside the area of Edwards Air Force Base, but a bit outside it, to the south-west, on another dry lake bed. The dry lake bed is that big brown/tan spot in the lower left of the photo. Some of Edwards is in the upper right. The town of Lancaster is a bit south, below the bottom of the photo. The Shuttle landed on the marked strip that goes from the south-east to north-west in the photo. (North at the top)
Man. Talk about a dream setup. I wish I could have seen it. Oh, and the shuttle landing would have been neat too.
This is literally the ONLY pic I have of that rig. (That's our unit, off to the right.) By the way, that's our eldest daughter Shannon, 'driving'. Pic was taken in 1989. She just turned 34 last month Time flies....... The Komfort 5th wheel was a full-sized unit, but not a long one - only 26' stem-to-stern.
