That was the original Battery Street Tunnel. It connected the Alaskan Way viaduct with Aurora Avenue at a lower elevation. Now, the Tunnel is filled-in, mostly with the crumbled concrete from the viaduct's structure.

Holy Cow Orthmann are you just not whistling Dixie. Man you couldn’t pack more into a photo if you tried. Western Gillette operated from California to Texas, with routes to Chicago. Wonder where this picture is. Apparently WG used Freightliners almost exclusively.
