Yeah, 84Pari....gotta do all the prep yourself for sure. AND...if your local guy will allow it...supply your own top of the line paint.
    Oh...and you're right...it isn't $4500 nice.

Well Silver, if you feel you need to find that perfect deal, I wish you all the luck in the world. I hope you do. I think maybe you should pick up another one to tide you over.

When I bought my wagon, was I looking for an 87 Caprice Wagon? Nope. Was I looking for a wagon period? No! I wanted a pickup. But I knew my car for years before I bought it and had fell in love with it long ago haha. I really wanted a 77 Country Squire, or a 66 Caprice, or a 55-60 Chevy wagon. But if I had turned mine down, I would have not spent the best 500 bucks that I ever spent on a vehicle. Just my two cents worth buddy.

Well, CE...I don't really need another vehicle to tide me over. I have one too many now. I AM finding that in the few short years that I have been away from the wagon scene the Buicks I love have dwindled away to almost nothing. The one in WA has been taken care of by it's owner and the 2002 paint job still looks good. By the way...I was right, it IS a Maaco job. Heard from the owner last night. But, for the most part, I am finding Electras like this one...

This one doesn't even have the correct grill in it. Anywaaaayy...it's been a learning experience. The wagons that were once plentiful are no longer around. Astounding. That's ONE reason I have been looking at the LT1's. Another reason I'm looking at those is because I can go as fast in one of those for less money. And they are super comfortable with all the accoutrements I enjoy. Nevertheless...if that one late 80's Electra pops up...rest assured...I'll be on it. If the one in WA were closer and cheaper I would probably own it by now. I like the car and the color is memorable to me.

Yeah - I saw that one last night in my internet travels. That one wouldn't be bad for a 'project' if you have the time and money, and can pick it up for cheap. I'm like you, though, Mike. I prefer to pay more for one in excellent condition already, and then add improvements as I go.

Always loved the style of the grill on those, too, where it wraps around under the headlights.

Agree, Krash. Not too many around anymore though it seems. Now I'm REALLY sick about crashing my beautiful old '88!

How bad was the wreck? Even if your insurance company totaled it, you could still keep the salvage and rebuild it (assuming it wasn't ALL twisted up).

Long gone. I have many friends in all areas of the car biz....it would have cost a ton to rebuild it. I was hoping it could be done but no such luck. Frame, suspension, etc. Should have kept MANY of the pristine parts though! But, I didn't.

I wish. Don't know WHY I didn't take any. I guess you just always think you will have stuff forever. A friend of mine MIGHT have some. I'll have to check with him but I think I already asked.

Okay Silver, I didn't know whether you needed one to tide you over or not. I would probably buy the one you have listed as a winter beater, but nothing more. Definately in very rough shape and I wouldn't give the guy no more than 500 bucks for it.

The Red Roach is what I call that Ebay red '89 Electra wagon that I talked about in another thread. It was the first one you sent in your post. It's on Ebay again and is on the last day without a hit. They started it at $1500 (which makes it $1900 with the bend over fee) and no one has bid on it yet.
A1...see the thread>> "Anyone live near Brooklyn, NY?" for the details.

I've never liked red cars much either.I think the one exception was my dad's 1960 NSU Sport Prinze. On that car,the red inside and out color scheme wasn't bad.But on bigger cars, red interiour is a bit too much.I know I was complaining elsewhere about Detroit's lack of colors on it's exteriour/interiour pallette, but only candy apple for exteriour and no red on the interiour for me...Not even firetrucks have red upholstery..;)
