Sorry....I was thinking of my car, A1. You are right and that may change things in my mind about the car as a winter driver.....on the way to the doc for tests all day...I will chime again later.

Well, I decided to pass. I think $850 would buy the car, but there are so many questions... When I'm honest with myself, I don't have the $850 (even if I spread it over time), so I guess I'll throw a set of snows on the convertible and call it a day. :(

I thought briefly about driving my wagon:evilsmile:, but got that idea right out of my head:162:...

Nope, I need to be grateful for what I have (which I truly am) and cool my jets for a while. Nothing is the hardest thing for me to do most of the time...

I know the feeling. I see little cherry deals here and there, and then hate to let them pass because of no time, money or space.

I think you need to have at least two of those three things to get ahead on a project.
Well, that, or just lots of money...:slap:

The latest edition of the Old Cars Price Guide goes only through the 1993 model year. For a 1993 Caprice station wagon in #4 condition (runs and drives but needs restoration), the value is listed $1920. If it's restorable but doesn't run, the value is $1,150.

This car is really too new to consider what you would be doing to it "restoration." You'd just be fixing up an old car.

The NADA website puts the "average trade-in" value for this at $2,000, and it's "clean retail" value at $3,850. I'm sure that $3,850 assumes all systems work and the car drives fine.

I'm sure the car is worth the money (an LT1 is probably worth that running), but it's just too tight for me to swing... If I had $$ and a place to park it, I'd buy it and just leave it somewhere. Someday it'll be worth $12,000 and I'll remember the day I passed for $850. Happens to me all the time with cars I've had... "If I'd only kept that '65 Chevelle..."

If only id kept my 95 f150(...yeah...truly regret that one. )
if only id kept my 93 jeep wrangler (oh wait...the frame broke)
if only id kept my 98 s10 (umm traded her in for TiKi..so maybe not)
if only id kept my 76 Omega (not sure why i bought that to begin with)
if only id kept my 84 Ram (another frame rot casualty)
if only id kept my 94 caprice (my wife wouldn't constantly bitch about my truck)
if only id kept my 88 comanche (yea...regret that one too!)
if only id kept my 02 focus (traded that in on my 95 f150...it was the only car i ever bought brand new)

in life we all make crappy descisions. some have good outcomes some...you regret later. getting rid of a car is (for a car guy) one of those things that you dwell on "did i make the right call here or should i have kept it" and often look back on with remorse. but look at it this way. you have what you have. keep them as nice as you can and that means pocketing a lil extra bank for the "uh oh" repairs when they pop up. so i see why you want to pass on the caprice. however.....i hate to see an LT1 wagon become a donor car!!!

Yeah, so do I. He's not particularly trying to sell the car, so I expect it will still be right there next year if someone else wants it... Me included...
