oops....Andy's original comment didn't sink in. Are you saying that ALL 84 Marquis had the V6 rather than the inline, Andy??

I think '82 was the last year for the inline 6.
    I don't think I've yet seen an I6 in an ltd/marquis.

You would have to change the front k member for a V8 one I am told. And yes, the Fox Ltd/Marquis only came with the V6.

I'd like to know about the inline drop also,,,,Andy,Norm???

I have to say, if this 84 was on my island and was a clean as it apears, it would be in my drive way and I'd have to flip a coin to decide witch woody I would barn for awhile.

The I6 has it's own k-member. It is possible to put a 302 on an I6 k-member with some judicious trimming and ranger motor mounts, but I don't know if you can put an I6 on a V8 k-member. The V8 and I4 share the same k-member.
But I assumed (wrongly, I now know) that the V6 and V8 had the same k-member...

I was just thinking that because there are some nice aftermarket options for k-members that one of those 4.6 modular motors might be a nice engine for this style of car.

Well....I guess the bottom line in these cars is that you can drop anything in it providing you install the correct K member in it first AND there are plenty of K member options available. Do I have this right?

I thought the '89-'98 3.8 was a pretty fair engine when they had the multiport injection. I had one in my old '92 T-Bird, and my Cougar and '95 T-Bird have the 3.8 SC engine. Yes I am aware of the head gasket issue. I could regularly pull down 30+ MPG on the highway with either variant. It wasn't a glamorous engine for its day but it was a work horse. My '92 was still running strong and didn't burn any oil at 260k miles when the rest of the car rusted out from around it (thank you Michigan salt). I think the supercharged version was a pretty good engine too. A 3.8 SC in a fox wagon would make a nice sleeper without the v8 rumble.

I'll agree that the 3.8 in the Taurus platform didn't do much for me. My old '90 Taurus with the 3.0 was a very capable performer and seemed every bit as powerful as the 3.8 version.

There was the LTD 'LX' model, with the 302, but not very many built....

Don't think there were any 'LX' wagons sold though, so the last V8 fox wagons from the factory would have been the Fairmont / Zephyrs with V8 option......

Ooo....correct that. You could get the Granada /Cougar with a V8 I believe.......

Don't the Marquis and LTD's have a little fancier interiors in them? Like a console etc?

Yes, the LTD's and Marquis' had upscale interiors from the Fairmonts et al. No buckets/consoles (except for the previously mentioned 'LX' model), but the front seats were individual, and had little 'boxes' built in to them (to hold the seat belt end?) - sort of made them appear to have a console....
You can sort of make them out on this page from an '84 Ford brochure...

Thanks, KK. I thought I saw one on here way back with an actual console. Maybe in the gallery?

Nope....that's TJ's Granada. The one I'm talking about is a white Marquis woody that we talked about on here way back. I think it belonged to a friend of Norm or Andy.
