Ok the consensus has spoken! If I can find a new piece of rubber I may consider using it, I will se how I go. Maybe this is something that can be sourced from a derby wreck perhaps. The lower grille along with the front indicators has not been installed yet, and I have a new grille in the back of the car that I will use once I get it back home.

Hey honesthilb, that's ok. If you look at the pics of before, they were taken with some good lighting, but the pics of the car the way it is now were taken in some poor lighting. Also wait and see what it looks like with the wood. I was lucky enough to find a large piece of OEM Mozambique wood dinoc to copy from so it should look pretty close to right once this has been applied.

Hi John, yep things are beginning to happen. I have shared a couple of emails with Mick from wood4wagons and while he is busy at the moment, he needs my samples to be sent to him asap. I have the wood di-noc sample already

but he mentioned it would have been good to have had an original sample peice of the aluminium trim to try and match the wood pattern to so guess what, I have been following this peice of trim on ebay for a couple of months now and I ended up buying it this week. It is being sent to my contact to be put with the rest of the trim.

Even though it is a little scratched, it will still make a perfect example to work from. I am hoping to get this to Mick as soon I can so that it will kick start the next part of the restoration.

    Cheers Mike.

That's cool you found that. EBay is a godsend for both the sellers and buyers of these obsolete parts. The Di-noc looks good too.

    Hi Mike,

The factory wood grain and trim looks like a good find.

    Any more updates?

Hi John, yeh things are slowly happening! I expect that we should see something over the coming weeks hopefully as Mike from wood4wagons has bee working on restoring the aluminium trim over the past couple of weeks and he will be reproducing the wood from a scan from the NOS strip I have supplied. I was keen to add to this thread at some stage, but I am still waiting for something in the way of pics etc., hopefully soon.

    Cheers Mike.

Thanks rrbnut, me too! Actually I am coming over in November for SEMA this year so I am in the middle of planning my next trip to the US at the moment. I was hoping this car would have been finished off a year ago but the way things are going, it may still be in California when I come over then.:(

Anyone else going to SEMA this year? Mike.

Hi Guys, thanks for the interest, especially jwdtenn and 101volts. Well it has been a very frustrating time for me with my wagon which is still in California. The car is safely stored in the high desert in the Phelan area so I have no problems knowing where it is or if it is being looked after. The paint took forever, but it has been back from them for probably 2 years now however am still waiting to hear back from Mick at woodgrain4wagons, which considering I have sent multiple emails over the past 10 months, I have still had no contact with him since November last year. I have just resent a request via his website so hopefully he will receive my email then, but I am also hoping that he and his family is well, and that I am not intruding on anything.

I am sorry I have not been active over the past 12 months or so as things here at work have really hotted up... for the better! We have been very very busy over the past year, and I have taken a lead role in my company, however I have still popped in here to see what is up for sale from time to time as well, but I am also hoping that when I get some clear air, I will become more active again as I miss the usual great company on this forum! So keep up the good work fellas (and gals), and when I get something tangible to report, I will be sure to let everyone know. Thanks for thinking of me, cheers Mike.
