I wouldn't be surprised if he actually posts the fawning questions himself as well as his obnoxious answers.

Just checked out the ad. Look's like he had couple friends ( if he has any) stroke his ego with those questions. Quote" Rarest and best color clamshell" Color is a preference, now make no mistake I like the car but the price... and just my opinion but Dinosaur s!*t is rare but don't bring lots of money, at least I don't think it does :rofl2:

Ok I gotta share this. I contacted this guy through Ebay, mainly to complain about his "small-minded" comment, which to me was offensive.

He was a little rude at first, but turns out he has a low-mile 96 Roady wagon and many other nice toys. He sent me pics of his collection and it's pretty impressive. I sent him some pics of my toys, and it was amazing the tiny details he picked out from my pics.

The feeling I get is he does not want to sell the 74 wagon, but has it listed and priced sky high to take a chance on selling it to invest in other toys. If it sells, great, if not, he's fine with that.

I won't say he's my buddy but after first reaching out he was very cordial and sent me a ton of pics of his other cars, as well as some good insight and advice on my Roadmaster wagon.

    You never can tell gang.

That still makes him rude and insensitive in my book. Why post a car for sale on eBay if you are just trying to show it off? There are members here that would have liked to bid on that car and were treated rudely when they asked questions. He doesn't want to sell the car....he wants to stick it in everyone's face like he is some kind of hero because he has it and you can't get it from him. The pix he posts in his ad are the same pix he posted 2 or 3 years ago when he did the same eBay ad and he treated people rudely then as well.
If you want to show off your cars or your knowledge do it in car forums with other car guys.

    EDIT:
And...does anyone believe the present $12,500 bid on this car is legitimate?

I'm pretty skeptical about the $12,500 bid also. Then again, there was that pristine 1979 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser on eBay several months ago that apparently sold for over $9000.

Maybe. All I know is how I feel about this. With the present bid along with the phony Q&A section in his ad I'm just moving the guy over to my non-trustworthy column.:yup:

He says the car has been painted once and needs it again. Then he says the woodgrain looks just like it did the day it was put on. Well...was it put on last week? Last month? That car is faded on its second paint job....do you think the woodgrain would have lasted looking like it does through two fade outs and without nicks or scratches?
Would you buy a used car from this guy? :rofl2:

    Hey Mike,
If you do get the feeling that he was wanting to sell this wagon to invest
in another, HOW is that Health Issues as he is claiming in his auction????
C'mon, this guy is as arrogant and rude as Silverfox has stated all-along !!!
I mean we can't " ALL " be wrong about this guy. And like most people have
been quick to point-out, WHY the re-paint on such a Low-mileage, garage-
kept car? THAT makes no sense. IMO I'm just sayin'..........

Well, thanks to Mike, we now have more of the story (I was going to say the rest of the story, but I don't think we're quite there yet - we probably will never be). As to that high bid, I think it's possible that he found somebody that wanted that wagon, whatever the price - and that's gonna be his kind of buyer. There are people out there that have the mentality (and the money) to think "If it's expensive, it must be better..."

I'm familiar with that mentality. There must be 2 of them with it here. The same 2 are bumping it up. We will have to agree to disagree on this one, though, KK. I think the entire sale is rigged with his friends.

    Hey Silverfox,
I'm almost Certain you are "right on the money" about the bids being
friends of his. Click on the bidding history of the auction. The guy who
bid $ 5,259 was outbid at ONLY $5,362 and NOW is high bidder at $12,500 !!
REALLY......................... O.K. I'm obsessed with this thread. But, I just
think being rude and arrogant is so not Cool.

The more I inspect the pictures the more I see wrong with the car. I swear that is not the correct steering column. Something looks really off, and there is no way anybody would bid $12,500 on this car. Mike McCoy has some of the nicest wagons on earth and I bet he hasn't sold any of his for that much. 1974 is the rearest year, but not worth 12,500. Are the lights in the bottom of the doors an option. I have never seen them on any wagons

I'm beginning to think that "wingman" '96 Roadmaster Estate Wagon in the picture's background looks pretty good. Aren't they thought to have potential as a collectible?

As of today there is no feedback given on the wagon. I understand maybe it is being shipped somewhere. BUT, it leads me to believe it is UNSOLD

The high bidder had "family problems" and did not take the car. He paid the seller $1,000 for his trouble. Sure he did
