searched through craigslist and found a guy in New Orleans who has a 4 dr 64 falcon wagon for sale for $750....car is a roller and beside not having floors it still has all of its body panels, windshield, window glass, grille, disc brakes, steering wheel, etc..If I decide on it I am looking at probably a 9 hr drive from Florida to New Orleans....the roof is compatible with what I am looking for except it is a 4 dr which would mean I would have to remove the welds holding on the pillar....it does have surface rust but I need something that is rust free especially since I will be welding it on at the pillar posts...the pics he sent me of the roof look a little suspicious where there might be some rot around the rain gutters and they are not up close only from a distance
I was emailing back and forth with someone else on www.tffn.net and there might be another solution for the roof dilemna....there are spot welds that hold the top of the posts to the inner structure....was thinking that I could actually remove the inner structure but leave the posts in place...this would eliminate the need for measuring and all that would need to be done would be on the donor roof to remove the posts from that one
tmuraine, actually I made a mistake it is actually a '64 wagon but they are still the same..you do know that you can use a '60-'65 falcon or comet wagon roof as they are all compatible..found it going through all of the states on craigslist....if you happen to come across any other ones please keep me in mind.....the one that this guy might sell me has two rust areas on it and I don't want to deal with inner structure rot ever again (he sent me some more pics but I need to make sure it hasn't gone all the way through....I talked to Terry Rahn off of www.tffn.net and he suggested taking out all of the welds on top of the posts to remove the roof....this would be a little more work but would eliminate some measuring and keep the existing posts in place
passed on the wagon over in New Orleans as the roof was worse than I thought....found another one on ebay and might be a possibility
I liked the wagon on ebay but it is just too nice to cut up and it is another 2 dr.....knowing that these are so hard to find just hope it will find a great home elsewhere and not by the crusher...any way found some more rust in the spare tire well....AKA too much moisture and rust because of not draining and a cracked window weatherstripping

thank god for the rev to do the techi stuff....my definition of using a computer is knowing how to turn it on and off
Good start! Believe it or not, the very first portable I ever used was an Apple IIe (1985) and it took me an hour to find the ON switch. Then I became a software eng, and a network systems manager. I've been out of it for 9 years, and I've lost track of this high-tech world.
I found another boneyard that specializes in old cars from the '50s and up....found it on www.lovefords.com under one of the forums....the place is in York,PA and it is called Baughman's Auto Parts 717-846-3944....supposedly there are 3 yards....called them up and they may have a rot free roof replacement for my bird....wanted $200 for it but I would have to make the trip to PA from FL and remove the glass....they would cut the roof off at the posts for me....they also have all kinds of wagon parts cars as well so please ladies and gentlemen save these cars before they are dust!
Today was cowl removal day.....took me about 4 hrs of removing 150-200 spot welds but got r done! So proud of myself as I have never done this before....discovered that whoever had the car before decided to spray some silicon/white sealant crap up in the hats....it was all over the bottom of the cowl.....4hrs of work x $70/hr bodyshop = $280 back in my pocket along with satisfaction....I took some pics before the removal and will work on getting some more for you all to enjoy....it was the usual cowl issue filled with tons of leaves and rotted metal on the outer edges
Today I spent the day removing the door hinges, hood hinge, etc in anticipation of some future soda blasting....has anyone had any experiences with the eastwood soda blaster? I am considering buying it or maybe looking into what harbor freight has
