Nice car, but I can't imagine there's much demand for them. I think he'll be owning it for quite a while yet if he wants his $7000 BIN price. But he does have a make offer option. A good price for this would be about half his BIN price.

I agree, but seeing what stock low mileage Japanese cars of the 70-80's are going for in CA, it would not surprise me if he got close to the BIN price.
According to the seller it is the Rare Datsun/Nissan Model. Kinda reminds me of the Chevelle/Malibu's of the 60-70's

    Something's weird on this car.....
The first 'Nissan' badges started appearing (in the U.S., anyway) on the 1984 models, NOT the 1982 models. The '84's said both 'Datsun' and also 'Nissan'. In '82 and '83, the US cars would have only had 'Datsun' emblems on them. I'm thinking this might actually be an '84, not an '82.

Maybe you are not old enough, but starting in the mid 60's thru the early 70's the Midsized Chevy's were marketed Similar to the Datsun/Nissan badging on this car. If I understand the trim levels they went something like this (I am not including the SS option here that add more confusion)
Base Model Chevelle's received just Chevellle Badges in all 4 positions.
the up market Malibu's received Chevelle badges front & rear & Malibu badges on the Fenders
So it was not uncommon to see non SS Chevelle's with both the Chevelle & Malibu Badges on them from the Factory.

That's what I was saying, not that this car reminded me of a Chevelle or Malibu in any way exept for the strange badging.

Yes and no on the Datsun/Nissan thing. I remember distinctly that a high school classmate (I graduated 1983) had a gold 1982 310 4-door. Here's what the emblem looked like:

That's Datsun 310 by Nissan (in tiny script).

My classmate's 310 looked just like this.

Incidentally, this same classmate's mom had the car that I really wanted: a black with wood grain 1979 Caprice Estate with crimson red vinyl interior and all options other than rear defroster, as I remember. Yes, I had middle age tastes even in high school. Wish I could have bought it then. Looked just like this with the black/red color combo.

That is kind of what I figured, but I had to confirm before I started drawing up the commitment papers.

I remember the Datsun by Nissan badges. The car in this auction just looks strange. I know it was the 80's, but two Nissan badges on the lower edge of the hatch and then a Datsun badge below the glass and a Sentra badge on the other side just does not look right. I would expect to see a Datsun by Nissan badge and the Sentra badge, but not all four. I think somebody got a little happy with Nissan badges and some two sided adhesive tape.

I may have missed the little 'by Nissan' part on that emblem way back when......

It's amazing how few of these early 80's 310's have survived. I haven't seen one in years.......

Down to $3995 and still no takers. This was very basic transportation even by 1982 standards. There are plenty of newer choices on the used car market in the $4k range.
