There's a '79 Buick Estate wagon sitting at the Cleveland West Pull-A-Part right now with a cloth front and vinyl rear seats. The car was nice and all there the last time I saw it a few weeks back, near perfect red interior and has two tone burgundy paint, real nice body too.

That website shows it arrived there May 8th. Too bad there's no pic.

Here's a great example of cloth in front and viny in the back on a Buick Estate Wagon.[IMG]

I don't know how I missed this one! I would have been very tempted, glad it was sold before I had to explain it to my wife!!!!

The only thing I would have preferred is that it have a Pontiac 400 not the Olds 403. I just don't have any experience or spare parts for an Olds V-8. Chevy, Buick, or Pontiac Yes!!!!

But I would not have let that scrub the deal for me. But if it was a 48 state car, it probably would not still exist in that condition. Beuatiful car!!!

I think all the California cars got the Olds 403. I remember my sister bought a '78 Firebird Formula and it had the Olds 403 in it ("6.6 liter"....)

1978 was the final year of the B-body "Grand Safari" because next year (1979) it was renamed "Bonneville Safari," probably to avoid confusion with the mid-size A-body "Grand LeMans Safari" which in turn became the G-body "Bonneville Safari" for 1982-83.

The downsized Bonneville Safari also (temporarily) indirectly replaced the original B-body wagon of the same name but in the spring of 1983, the (B-body) Bonneville Safari's true replacement finally came in the form of the Canadian-built Parisienne Safari despite being a mostly-finished Chevy Caprice Classic Estate wagon.

We sure loved ours....from 1978-1986. Wish Dad had kept it! It had the Pontiac 400 in it to. Special ordered.

Our brand new '78 Pontiac Grand Safari. Me in the car, Mom posing for the pic, and showing off the wild Valencia interior Dad special ordered. Spring 1978, Tulsa Oklahoma , and about to ride on the Trail 90 with my Grandad, Waco Texas 1978, good door panel shot

My father's best friend liked our Safari so much that he went and ordered a chocolate brown one for his family! He brought it over the day he picked it up and Dad and he parked them nose-to-nose in our backyard. His had tan vinyl seats in it. I remember thinking how plain it looked compared to ours inside. Ha! 1978 Tulsa Oklahoma

My Mom and Dad, Tulsa Oklahoma 1982, Dad about to go to work. Dad's Olds 98 and Mom's Grand Safari in the garage.

Skipping forward a few years, we moved from Tulsa to Denver Colorado. Here we are with the Safari on our first trip into the Rocky mountains. This was Dillon Colorado, 1985, my little brother Dave and I.

I loved out silver one, and would have LOVED to have bought this white one, even if it's a 403 Olds and not a 400 Pontiac...both are better than the 301 or (shudder) the Diesel....
