Yet another one pops up - opening bid looks reasonable. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1977-Oldsmo...or-/282438031057?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
It's weird. Soon as you see a car or truck you haven't seen in several years, all of a sudden, you see several examples within a short time.
Yeah, these were not seen very often when new, if only because they were really expensive. Now 40 years later, they are everywhere suddenly.
Well deduce it logically, they where bought new, stuck in garages, the people where old when they bought them, they're either really old now (in old folks homes) or dead, so the kids are settling the estates and getting rid of Grandpa's/Grandma's stuff.
Not a bad car, but it does have some issues that I think make his starting price a bit steep. I notice that, as of this writing, he has received no bids. It's missing the trim between the taillights and the rear fenders. This is a very common problem with these cars (my '78 included), and replacements are available. I also have to say that I don't particularly care for the interior color combination. That greenish(?) trim between the gray stripes on the seats almost looks like mold. I'm sure it's not, but it's just not very attractive. It also has some rust and scrapes here and there. I'd say this is more a $4,000 car than a nearly $6,000 one, but good luck to him.
This appears to be the desired price. $6900. Don't know how realistic that is. https://toledo.craigslist.org/cto/6085744280.html
Reality is setting in, slowly. When he gets down to about $4,000, reality will have sunk in fully. The missing trim pieces behind the rear fenders just detract too much from the car no matter how good the rest of it is. He could fix that problem for maybe $500 in parts and labor, and it would do wonders for the car's eye appeal. While he's got the paint out, he could repair this scratch and repair the rust around the trunk opening. (Vacuuming out the trunk before taking pictures of it wouldn't hurt, either. It's always amazing to me how much people don't get the concept of presentation. We so often see photos of cars that are dirty, wet with rain, or have junk on the front seat or in the trunk or wherever. Yes, the underlying car might be a nice one. But that's hard to get a sense of when the car is a mess. CLEAN IT UP!)
