Another extremely nice looking XR-7 for a good price. https://swmi.craigslist.org/cto/d/1978-mercury-cougar-xr7-clean/6428963746.html
And the sharp 4-door is back. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1977-Mercury-Cougar-/401470563394?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
Much as I like the color, I'd only be interested in it for converting Babe to a Cougar front end, and sprucing up the interior, plus spare parts galore..
Bidding proceeding quickly second time around. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1977-Mercury-Cougar-/401470563394?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
Hard to say from their website since every car they have listed is SOLD! https://www.idahoclassicscars.com/inventory.aspx I'm just not feeling the love for this thing at $4k. Not a real desirable car in my opinion, but I'm not a fan of most mid-late 70's Fords.
Yeah, 77-79 Cougars just don't do well. Add 4-door to that, and well.... I can't imagine this thing going for much more than $4k. I've got a friend who's been trying to sell a very nice XR7 for a while at $3500, with no luck. I finally sold my 79 XR7 for $1k. A rust-free excellent driver with nice interior with a 351W.
For a thou, I would've tried to buy it if I had known it was for sale, as it would've given me the exterior and interior parts for Babe. Then I would've put the LTD II parts on the Cougar and made it my DD.
That thing looks pretty solid. If you were trying to sell it up here in the rust belt I imagine you could have easily gotten 2x-3x what you did. Rust free forty year old cars aren't real common up here.
this dealer always has nice cars albeit a bit pricey;he is the one that still has that light blue Chrysler 4 door, forgot the model name
Actually sold it to someone in Michigan who is having it transported. But, tried to sell for months. No one wants 77-79 Cougars. It's just the way it is...
Well being down south probably didn't help. If it were up here I think it would have gone faster for a better price.
