As generally nice as the car is overall, it's a good thing he has the "Make Offer" option as his BIN price of $7,500 is ridiculous considering the cosmetic (the seats and armrests are a mess) and significant rust problems the car has. In current condition, with the bad oil leak as well, it is a $2,500 to $3,000 car.

    Also, he says this:
The car won't be 45 years old until 2021.

I'm guessing that was a $1500-2000 Craigslist car that sat a long time. The seller did the wood, wheels and tires (I love the Polycasts) and got it running and driving and is now looking to make a big profit at that asking price. Not a bad car by any means, but needs more love before getting $7K plus for it.

Those Olds 455's ran a long time. Wouldn't surprise me if it was 172,000 miles based on the condition of the driver's seat and door panels.

-Seller states it's 99% rust free....those are all problem areas with significant labor. 99% in my book is a unrepaired door ding that has surface rust and half a panel needs touched up. Not holes.
    - The mobile home license plate is a nice touch.
    - Dealer invoice with the spare tire forthcoming is interesting. I wonder if the buyer could have received credit if the delivering dealer never came through?

Well you can't fault the guy for not trying. If you don't ask you don't get kind of thing. Just a small bit optimistic though. At least he has as many pics of the bad stuff as the good. It's a big beautiful girl that hopefully gets restored. I think you would need to get it for less than a couple grand to make it worth while. It would need to be near mint unrestored condition for me to get it at that price.

Why would you reapply the woodgrain when it needs paint! He got it for a 1000. Put in 1000 in parts and sweat equity. Now wants 7?

What would this be worth painted and the interior restored? 12?

Painted, interior redone, engine cleaned up to no longer leak oil, etc, it'll probably be a $12-15k car. The seller is right, the rust spots are small and not horrid, but there are enough that it's going to take a lot of time to fix them. Fortunately they aren't in areas where you need a lot of custom fabrication, but finding anyone willing to do sheet metal on these cars is like hunting for hen's teeth. This is a car that's probably worth $3500-4000 tops as it sits and at that price you could drive it around without having to do major work and not be embarrassed by it. At the price the guy is asking, people are going to want it a lot nicer.

That passenger side door panel has water damage, I wonder where else the car has water leaks...

The rust that is visible is like the proverbial ice berg, that's just the tip of it boys. There is an early eighties colony park near mint on eBay now for $7000. Worlds apart condition wize. I know they are different eras and collectables but still, I'm going with the merc. I'm so done with chasing rust. There are so many things to do with a car without having to chase rust, it isn't worth it for me anymore. My 2 cents

This is how it is on my Suburban. Thankfully, new repair panels were available in all the afflicted areas.
