460 V8. Looks extraordinary!!!! The only factory option I see missing is power front mini-vents! http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/mercury/colony-park/1789066.html
Beautiful wagon. His $12,000 asking price is steep, but he might get it. He has to find someone who wants one of these badly. How many people go to bed at night drooling over the possibility of finding a pristine 1976 station wagon? Probably not many.
Description: 1976 Mercury Colony Park Marquis, deluxe interior, Rare wagon In beautiful condition, runs very well. Vinyl top, Rosewood sides, partial repaint 2000, only 62,000 miles. 460cid. 4 v with ice cold automatic air. Radio upgraded to ditigital with mp3 hookup, power windows door locks, tilt wheel, dual front seats. This looks like a lincoln interior in near perfect condition. it drives very well, roof rack. original factory floormats third owner. brakes tires battery all newer. I have 15 year of reciepts, bought with 38,000 miles. The car has a vinyl roof. Most of the sides and rear are covered in woodgrain. My guess would be the "partial repaint" would be due to fading paint on the hood or possible road rash below the woodgrain , along the bottom edge of the car. The seller does say the price is "negotiable". It's a very nice car and could possibly be bought at a reasonable price. Who knows?
Yes, but do you drool at the $12,000 level? I can certainly see wanting this car. But not for $12K. I don't want it THAT bad.
It's probably better off w/o the mini-vents; they're a pain when they jump the tracks (I speak from experience). I don't think the twin comfort lounge seats are that rare for the Colony Park or even for the Country Squire (my '76 CP and '75 CS both have them). The two-tone vinyl may be rare, though. I don't recall seeing many with that option. Asking prices for cars advertised in Hemmings tend to be high compared to many other sources. I can't speak to "getting" prices. I have no idea whether these cars are in this price range, yet. Note, however, the relatively low mileage and exceptional condition. I'd like to see pics of the dash, specifically the "upgraded" radio. Other factors to be aware of: This car has the hydroboost system, which probably indicates it has 4 wheel disc brakes. This is a neat option, but it's more expensive to repair than the standard vacuum boosted/rear drum system. The original Motorcraft 4350 carb is also a pain to work with (floats for these are hard to come by, anymore). Many were replaced with Holleys -- there was a promise of easier tuning, greater reliability, and better gas mileage (which I never saw). In fact, the Holley 4V became a factory authorized replacement for the 4350. All in all, judging from the photos, I'd say it's easily worth an easy $8K, very possibly more.
Beautiful machine although don't know that they will get their price (negotiable) - likely as nice a CP of that era that you will ever find at this point.
