Yes. For a car of this vintage 168K miles is "very high". I've owned many cars from this era and it was always considered that anything over 100K miles was living on borrowed time.

This isn't really surprising considering the way most people maintained their cars back then (or more accurately didn't maintain them), the quality of the oils available, etc. I think that most people only read the section in the owner's manual that told them how to work the radio. Certainly, it was the exception, rather than the rule, when the oil was changed at the proper interval (for too many, it was exceptional if the oil was changed at all).

And Especially for a '73 with emission controls that are primitive and sometimes even detrimental to the engine, this is very high mileage. Three hundred thousand miles would be getting into Guinness Book of World Record territory.

 

I would still be interested in this car.....if the owner would show even the barest hint of interest in selling it. My request (from 2 weeks ago) for more pictures went unanswered. Sigh.

And I agree with ctrysquire.....the number of miles on this car is kind of scary.

 

call the owner and ask for her son to email pictures or he can call you.He knows more about the wagon,but does not live at the same address as his parents home.Plus he work's and that's maybe why he didn't get back to you.

 

This wagon looks like a good one and is a plymouth sport suburban fury.Top of the line in 1973 for a plymouth wagon.

 

If you are seriously interested by a Sport Suburban my 72 could be for sale in the next few weeks...Top Hat Edition...Air...Almost perfect interior...101,000 miles...360 engine in perfect mechanical condition...3 seats...2 Owner...No rust...Survivor paint...New woodgrain...8 track...etc...

Yes, was in a garage and did not move much from 1985 to 2013 when i bought it from the widow original owner...Documented mileage...Built Sheet...Dealer invoice...
