Today was absolutely beautiful, sunny, no wind, and high 60's. I was finally able to get this wagon in some primer. I masked off the doors, roof and quarters, and primed them with a good PPG 2-part primer/surfacer. I will sand this down, making sure each panel is perfectly straight and level. What a relief to get this thing coated with a little protection. I will be out of town until next Monday, but I will prime the fenders and hood next week if the weather holds out. David
Way to go, Wix! Lookin' GOOD! But.....sorry. We can't allow you to leave town. Nope. Uh-unh. You must remain working on OUR wagon!
Fox, I would work on this thing all day, every day if I could. It is my favorite thing to do. I'm totally obsessed! David
Well....have a good time away from the car for awhile, Wix. You know....when that thing is done...if it weren't for the hood holes, no one would know what the heck that is driving down the road! LOL
David that is so cool every time I look at it. I wish my exhaust turned left like yours. I hate mine, and it's new! And I still can not understand where the tailgate goes even though I am looking at it. Do you plan on a "trunk" lock cover?
Hey David, with the 7-word name script could be on the tailgate as an overlay over red lenses, you could replicate the first car that had turn signals, a 1939 Buick. Buick Estate Wagon Custom Limited Sport Coupe Like this article mentions: http://www.ynzyesterdaysparts.com/blog/?p=5 And then add the cougar sequential lights.
Just kidding with you, Norm. I didn't know that about the '39 Buick. I guess that's why Buick drivers always leave their turn signals on while driving down the freeway. They're paying tribute! David
What you're doing adds class to an elegant wagon, proving that it's possible. Is there a 3rd light in the back? All you'd have to do if find a 1939 setup. Don't worry about my ideas. I only fall in love with my own goodies.
Hey Jeff, I am going to put the Electra style cover over the lock. When I reassemble the tailgate area, I will take pics of it. It is a wonderful design, quite simple. David
I'm probably going to put a third brake light up under the roof where the rear glass goes up, an LED strip hidden in that recess. It will be the only non-1972 Buick part visible on the outside. David
