I've been hard at work, cleaning every nook and crannie of my engine and undercarriage. I started out just wanting to just wash and clean up my engine and get a little of the grime off of it. Well, it has turned into an obsession...I've hardly known where to stop. The undercoating kind of decide that for me...it will be left on the underside and rear wheelwells.

This is how is looks right now. I will paint the frame and all of the black parts with the correct semi-gloss black, and I have some cans of Buick Red engine paint on order. Hopefully, those will arrive soon. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

These plastic parts are all broken up on both sides, but...

...perfect ones were still on my parts car! Yea! :yahoo: It's those little things that make me happy I still have my good old parts Electra!

And speaking of MY PARTS CAR...Here it is! An excellent 455 that runs beautifully! I will keep this until I find out if my wagon's 455 is as good as I think and hope it is...good to have a spare. (y)

Makes me feel like a plastic surgeon, when I get down to detailing like that. ;)

I used to raz the wife about her closetspaces, until I started building the storage shed and moving stuff into it. Kind of felt like the Noah Principle - Two of Everything! 2 spare speedometers, 2 sets of tires, 2 sets of disc brakes... :banghead3:

I will paint the inner fender housings with black epoxy paint, touch up things and reassemble everything.
Sounds simple...if I didn't have a parts cars with every hose and fitting in place to guide me, I would be totally confused right now. :slap:  :whew:

    :(

That 'strawberry' color is the most beautiful color for an engine...(am I prejudiced or what?)

"Strawberry" is the nick for my red(dish) '92 Ford Fiesta ...a $200 car 5 years ago and it served me daily through the the past 5 winters; as a driver and a storage.... I even drove around 2 years with a TH400 tranny in the back for I didn't had any other place to store it :biglaugh:

I can't believe I managed to stay focused on any thread this long to read it start to current in one sitting but this one is really interesting. I just found it this morning. The car looks great! You are a master mechanic sir. Awesome concept, a Buick version of a Nomad. Wonder what Buick would of called one if they had built it? Those cars of that day really were tank like from the exposed pics in this thread. Really enjoying seeing all the photos along with the write ups. Warmer weather now, this car will be on the road soon I bet! (y)

    Thanks guys...

Thanks MotoMike! Glad you are enjoying this thread. :)

This line did make me laugh! I am not a mechanic at all! :rofl2:
Bodywork doesn't scare me at all, but most anything to do with engines and all that usually intimidates me big time.

I've never really had a pretty engine compartment on any car I've ever owned, and I just thought I would jump in and try to do this one proud.
A Buick Red 455 needs to look great. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

This is all just removing parts and hopefully putting them back on the right way.
My parts car is my guide, because right now, when I look at that big red engine, I am totally lost on what goes where. :49:

Yeah, at least with the dirty engine you could use the old rusty outlines for matching the clips.
