Kool car and info, I have to admit in that time frame I was only 10 or 12 years old and did not pay much attention to Maverick's. I thought they were Nova's uglier non relative.

Not many of those show cars survived, and in a few short years after that one was made the Safety and emissions regulations would assure that all of them are either kept by the manufacturer, or destroyed.

Having worked in auto insurance claims for 30 years, I can certainly understand that - and agree with you! Great story!

Yeah - might have been something I would have considered, were I in charge. Might have been a bit too much of a project, though. These days, with the A/M kits that are offered, you can put power windows in anything, but most likely not available back in 1970 - 1971. PW never were offered on the Maverick.

I've got some experience in a '72 4-door Maverick. When I met my wife, her mom owned one. Her's was pretty basic - auto, 200 cu in 6 (over the stock 170), power steering, AM radio. That's about it (and maybe whitewall tires....). About the only thing I could compare it to at the time was my folk's old '63 Falcon, and the '65 Dodge Dart I drove for a while. The Maverick felt very 'light on its feet', but didn't have a lot of get-up-and-go in the engine compartment. My '65 Dart seemed zippier. It was pretty plain in the interior - flat bench seat, and not a lot of sound insulation. Got pretty good gas mileage though, from what I remember.
