My mom was only an amateur. Dad had to package up one of these, in order to put it beneath the X-Mas tree for her:

Based on the pictures and description, would you consider this a $6k-$8k car, an $8k-$10k car, or a $10k-$12k car? Haven't made an offer yet.

IMHO, I don't think you'd be off at the highest price point. If I owned that car, I'd be asking at least your highest number. I really think these have nowhere to go but up.

I think if he still has the car, he’s not desperate to sell it. I think your offer should be keyed off of what he says. The thing I have learned about old cars is that they will bring what the market bears. If you think it is a $10-12k car, your offer should be in that area. If he says $19 then you know what you’re up against. I always like to talk about car prices in “range” if you’re looking for a $6k quickie, this isn’t your car. It looks very nice, but it’s not super loaded either, which is ok too. If you’re thinking $10-12 and he is too. There’s a meeting of the minds. I would ask him what his thoughts are price wise and go from there. I think there’s always room to discuss $500 to a $1,000. Maybe that’s the shipping costs.
