1967 AMC Marlin 290 for sale on BaT Auctions - ending March 27 (Lot #102,130) | Bring a Trailer 3000 MILES IN A MARLIN (magzter.com) Here is anInteresting reprint of old article on cross country drive Hot Rod magazine did with Marlin. Strange that Hot Rod Magazine would document a cross country trip in a Marlin. I would have thought that would maybe be Motor Trend or Car and Driver etc.
I know where there is one of these sitting in a field. Been trying to buy it for years. You can guess the response I get every time I inquire.
Few people realize it, but for all intents and purposes, this is a '2nd-generation' Marlin, in '67 being built on the slightly longer and wider AMC Ambassador platform rather than the AMC Classic platform of the previous 2 years. The larger body allowed a better-appearing curve to the fastback roofline.
These are such a rare bird. But as we all know, rare doesn't always equate valuable. I am surprised they don't garner more respect. Most people don't even know what they are. So, I guess $21,000 is a good sale for this one.
