https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1966-studebaker-cruiser-2/ Since I'm from the South Bend area I'm always partial to Studebakers. This one is from the last year, so made in Canada not SB and with a GM engine.
This is a NICE Studebaker! Had a question come up in my head as I was looking at this one. The 283 is a Chevy engine of course, and I thought the 327 may also have been on the option list. Did some checking, and it turns out not to be the case. I think the 327 was an Avanti-only deal........
Those use to Rule the Bracket I used to race in in the mid 1970's with the SBC's and light weight. I always had a soft spot for them also. If it was a 2 door I would be tempted!
Do you remember? The 21st day of September..... sorry. Saw the build date and Earth Wind and Fire came to mind.
Aunt Bea from Andy Griffith show had a 66 Studebaker in real life. https://itrolls.wordpress.com/2018/05/30/aunt-bee-and-her-studebaker/
I have connections with South Bend as well as one of the Studebaker's former residences. I think I have loved Studebakers since I first saw Fozzie and Kermit driving a bullet nose back and forth across America as a kid. I have always thought that if the right Studebaker ever crossed my path, I'd have to take it.
It’s funny I thought the same thing. I had remembered reading she was a Studebaker lover. I think they said when she died in 1989? They pulled hers out of her garage on 4 flats and it was a 20 cat, cat motel. Still sold for $20gs, ravaged interior and all. I would sure love the black ‘55 Sunliner she drove on the show.
I love the pickles! There are some true Andy Griffith watchers. I knew she was buried in your neck of the woods. That’s cool. Apparently after the show she was really enamored with North Carolina. Apparently she and Andy Griffith didn’t get along in real life, but there she was. He is also buried in North Carolina too right?
yes he is buried on Roanoke Island NC. I did read that him and Aunt Bea made up over the years. They were not on friendly terms during the show
Reading about this car and the Aunt Bee discussion was a great start to my day. Thanks everyone. Time to make the coffee and get my wife her chocolate chip muffins.
