That's a great looking F85! I like the updates. The chrome trim around the windows and wheel openings indicates this is a "Deluxe" trim model, the nicer flat roof. I think you had to get a Vista to get the 3rd seat?
No Oldsmobile ever came with a Powerglide transmission as that was a Chevy term for their two-speed automatic. Oldsmobile called theirs "Jetaway," and it was completely different mechanically.
66 Oldsmobile Hey Jaunty, Good to know. I did not know that! A nice little tid-bit to share at car gatherings!
AKA Super Turbine 300 or ST-300. Used in Buicks and Pontiacs as well. It was kicked to the with intro of the THM-350. Olds and Buick versions had variable pitch stator torque converters.
It appears so.... No mention in any of the Olds brochures for a flat-roof 3-seater for '66 or '67. Also had an idea that you could maybe make one by fitting in a third seat setup from a Chevelle or Tempest wagon from that period, but no go - they didn't offer them either! I'm really surprised by this. I would have bet money that they had a third seat available.
The wheelbase on 64-67 VC's was 5 inches longer than the flat-tops. That may have been a factor in offering a forward facing 3rd row seat.
The 115" wb of the flat-top was still long enough to have a third seat, if they wanted to offer it. Even the early ChevyII wagons had a third seat option. And I know you could get a third seat on the redesigned mid-sizers in '68 and beyond, VC roof or not. Read this ad: http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/chevy/68wag.html
All 1967 Oldsmobile flat-top wagons, F-85 and Cutlass, were two seaters. Only the Vista Cruiser was offered with three seats.
