Great pics of the wagoneer. Your son has done a great job and as you point out, he has a right to be proud of his efforts. Building a car builds character, and for many of us, was a right of passage from being just a Joe-stock guy to someone who could accomplish big things with our hands, using our heads, and being creative with our tiny incomes.

Good for you guys to get him on the path.

As for a couple of relics in the garage - my wife says that when I'm in the shop - five relics: the safari wagon, the chevelle, two Airstreams, and me.

He's a good kid...oh, he's 16, and is all that 16 brings with it, but he's still a good kid. He loves that old Wagoneer - takes a good deal of pride in it, and is a pretty good gear head. He wants to go into automotive design - although the designs he likes are of 40 year old cars.....

Maybe he'll start a revival in classic car styling?

Cars 40 years old and older are consistently attractive to my eye, whereas cars newer than that are hit-and-miss. The era of huge bumpers was followed by neo-classical styling which was followed by drastic downsizing which led to today's extreme aerodynamics and every car looking pretty much like every other car.
