Looking good! There must be some trick to getting the paint to stick, maybe a member will chime in? WallaBob or ImpalaJim?

Well just for info I had the entire piece polished, when I got it back I wiped it clean with alcohol then cleaned it with a special pre-paint wipe. I was unable to rough up the spots I wanted to paint because that would have scratched the SHINY parts lol. I sprayed it with etching primerfirst then with a duplicolor flat black. I can have it powder coated but I have to use special tape that will hold up to the heat when electrifying the piece, no idea what the coater will charge me for the tape lol.

    WIll keep you posted Ryan

Well I took Kathy home today, it was her longest trip yet about 25 to 30 miles. I brought her home to get her windows tinted before her show debut on Saturday.

The only real issue was the gas tank vent or lack there of. When I opened the gas cap there was a huge sucking sound. I am not sure how the 1964 gas tanks were vented but I think they were on top near the sending unit. I suspect the vent may have been covered or sealed when the gas tank was resealed?

I am going to try to figure out how to make another vent on Friday? Anyone have any ideas. ??

I will post a pic after the windows are done!!

My idea would be to follow the factory venting as close as possible if not exactly. That's just MHO.:yup:

I have the stock gas cap and then I bought an aftermarket replacement cap as well so my stock one isnt stolen and it says it is vented but obviously not enough, I need to look at my book to see what stock was?

And no AC will be on the car

    Gas cap

Ya know, I noticed my wagon does this same thing. I added a locking gas cap for the same reason, I don't want any trash thrown in there or my gas stolen. Every time I fill up, which is often :rednose:, it makes that sound.
