They are nice cars. That blue car has bucket seats, console and trim package from a Starfire. It's really an eyecatcher!

Fusick has parts for 61-66 Starfires. Some of those can be used in a 62 wagon.

They are beauties, I'm pretty fired up about checking it out tomorrow. Being a single dad isn't easy, but the plus side is no shrew telling me what I can't buy or have in my yard.

Yeah, like maybe the radiator cap and lug wrench. :)

Otherwise, probably very very few parts will interchange as no Starfire was ever made in a station wagon configuration. You're better off looking simply for '62 full-size Oldsmobile parts. That ought to cover from the firewall forward for mechanical, brake, and drivetrain. As far as body and trim, station wagon or otherwise, nothing is available from Fusick or anywhere else for the full-size Oldsmobiles.

I had to postpone until tomorrow, everything is closed including the bank.

I'll be sure to mention the parts issue when I go to drive down the price. More than likely there'll be brake and front end issues, or such. I've been wondering how hard it'd be finding basic things like shocks, tie rod ends, etc.. My late cousin Bob would have crafted anything in his garage and welded it on, but a purist would frown on such improvisation.

I'll lowball at $1100 and hope to get it for no more than $1400-1500 at the most. When I bought my Jeep Cherokee, priced at $1900, I had the audacity to offer a thousand, actually got it for $1200. I felt terrible, it was worth every penny. Within a couple months I drove it from Missouri to Lake Jackson, TX, with no problems, and it gave me 5 years of loyal service before it was totaled in a wreck. Stretch one into a station wagon and that'd be a fine wagon indeed.

Turned it down. Some closer clearer pics, especially of the interior, and I wouldn't have bothered. As I figured the black paint isn't original and scarcely hid a number of sins. There was a rusted out area in the rear quarter panel with bondo around it, and rust boils on the top. Ample surface rust on the interior which like the rest of the car needs to be fully restored. To do this properly would be prohibitively expensive for someone like myself. It was sad, you can see the potential, obviously neglect and years of sitting outside took their toll. His bottom dollar was $1500, it could well be worth that as a parts car, or I'm sure it's restorable if someone had the resources and time.

That's a shame, wenck. A shame, too, that some people will lure people into traveling to see an old rust bucket. I was excited for you but I'm glad that you were smart enough to walk away. Thanks for sharing your adventure!:D

For now I'll focus on repairing my Buick wagon, that I have only just begun to enjoy.
