Inspiration. I didn't see this earlier but I love your attitude. When life gives you lemons you still get your car working. Love the coloring. Did you take as much time on the later parts?

When I take my engine out I want to paint the compartment as well. Did you just paint it in sections and pull all the hoses and wires? Also, it looks like you painted all of the stems black, like from the power steering pump. I would love more pictures, and especially some of your wiring. I caught a glimpse in the video and it looks really neat.

 

Follow the next swap. I am SOOOOOO bored with the auto in the wagon. I am collecting parts for a 3/4 speed swap!!!

LOL!!! I don't really like the auto. It is so blah... The car has a super low rear end. Like 2.42 or so and the while the TH350 has a 2.52 first it just doesn't accelerate as it should. The Saginaw transmissions are perfect as I am looking at a 3.11 or 3.50 first gear. So problem solved!!

I have a few parts in the works. Gonna take some time to get them all.

So sorry you ran into trouble with the thrifty $50 350...but congrats on keeping your spirits and your enthusiasm level.

I went through something similar - and much more costly - on a 455 engine, so I definitely understand what you're going through.

As far as your "off-the-line" disapppointment, I understand that, too. Pontiac took advantage of all that torque with long-legged gear sets in most of its vehicles. My 69 Firebird had a 2.56 rear and even my 83 Bonneville (with Chev 305) has a 2.41 gear with a THM350 trans. Not much excitement when the light turns green!

That 4 speed will really liven things up.
