Not yet. Still in negotiation. Hopefully, we can agree on a price. If not, I'll just have to keep looking.

Personally, unless you specifically want a '60 - '63 Falcon wagon, I'd suggest looking for 2nd-gen wagon - '64 - '65. They're more 'modern' vehicles. Even the '65 has a big advantage over the '64 - Ford dropped the 2-speed Ford-O-Matic and made the 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic the regular 'automatic' offering across the board. The Cruise-O-Matic was available in some applications in '64. And don't forget the Comets.

I've considered the '64-'65 models. I don't like the body style as much. But I will agree they are probably better cars. Comets are much harder to find.

Try to find one that has 5 lug wheels instead of four. The benefits are enormous if you decide to make modifications or new wheels in the future.

I agree. The 60-63 is a better looking car, with the 62/63 being the best IMO. 64-65 are fine, but I prefer the more rounded, symmetrical side sheet metal of the 60-63's over the ice-cream cone sheet metal of the 64/65's.

If you need to, you can pull the power train and set it aside and replace it with 65+200 and Ford o Matic. Everything should transfer over and you can't tell the difference. The 5 lugs would be nice as it does give you more wheel options and larger brakes. I had that power train in my Mustang and it was great. Not super powerful but I didn't need it to be either.

Well, the search continues for a wagon. The guy with the Falcon contacted me last week and we agreed on a price. He was only available one day out of the week, because he was leaving town to buy a boat. Due to previously scheduled appointments, I couldn't meet him that day. He said we would talk about when we could meet over the weekend. I waited for him to contact me. Nothing. When I reached out to him, he didn't respond. I thought it was strange. I reached out again. That's when he said he had sold the car. Yep, after we agreed on a price and he said we would talk about a day/time to meet, he sold it right out from under me. I don't think he was planning on telling me at all. Needless to say, I wasn't happy. I guess it just wasn't in the cards.

The type of wagons I am looking don't come up near me very often (At least in my price range). I can't justify shipping. I'll just have to keep looking. Until then, I'm stuck with the wagon I have. Which is basically like not having a wagon at all.

Thanks for all the advice. Maybe another one will turn up. I'm not going to hold my breath.

Annoying how often I seem to hear this kind of story. I can't blame you for "not being happy". I would have been P.O.'d

I don't find it annoying. 1st cash gets the car. To often sellers get strung along without knowing if a deal will go thru. Lots more tales of woe from sellers than buyers.

I once drove from Virginia to Montreal, Canada in hopes of buying a car. It was a 12 hour drive one way to get there. The seller had other interested parties but assured me that once I was on the road, he would not sell it until I had a chance to see it myself. I rented a U-haul car trailer and drove to Canada with cash in hand. The seller kept his word though I later found out another interested party was anxious to buy the car while I was on the road. I looked over the car, but ended up not buying it. It needed more work than I was prepared for. The seller sold the car within hours after I saw the car. Funny thing is, the seller and I sort of became friends and we have remained in touch on and off for the nearly thirty years since due to the shared interest in the make and model of car. In hindsight, I should have bought the car. It took another twenty years to find another similar one that I ended up buying. The car was a 68 Barracuda Formula S 340 convertible. Only a few hundred convertibles were built with the 340 engine.

Though I certainly don't want to see prospective buyers string along a seller, I do believe that once plans are arranged, the seller should honor the agreement for at least as long as the buyer can reasonably be expected to arrive. And that's especially true if the buyer has to travel a great distance.

You wouldn't find it annoying if you agreed to a price on a vehicle and then had the seller go radio silent while you tried to contact them to arrange the purchase and then discover that they had sold it to someone else?
