Pretty car. At least they kept the 430 in the family. This may have had an original 383. Think they still had a 312, but for the wagons they usually had the higher cubic inches. Looks like it was always a 3 speed car. Not to be nit picky, but I would have tried to get all 4 ‘58 wheel covers like the passenger side. Driver sides are ‘57. Don’t hate on me, I’m just a wheel cover freak. lol. Plus I just can’t figure drilling huge holes in the door panels for awful stereo speakers. Another hot button.

Ad does mention it originally had the 383 in it, and the 430 was installed some time around 1967 or so.......

If I were to buy this, I'd invest in a change-out to a modern automatic/overdrive transmission.

There used to be conversion kits available for adapting a Turbo Hydramatic 400 onto the back of these blocks
...The M.E.L.s were available for the longer wheelbased Mercurys and Edsels only (the Edsels either had a Ford frame or a Mercury one, depending on which model). Opting for a 312 in such a land yacht doesen't seem to be a good idea. Especially, when loading that vehicle up to the gills and then driving uphill with it

A 4-Door Hardtop Wagon was one impressive design.

I really like the 3-Speed on the column part.
