I'll keep that in mind for sure, I was digging around the trunk in the delray today and found another driveshaft I had from a 68 Chevy C30 Stakebed grain truck. It had two driveshafts and this would be the front one. I'm going to give it a shot. Also, today I painted up the firewall and the radiator and core supports and the underside of the hood. Surprisingly enough, the Wal-Mart green spraypaint matched the firewall almost perfectly!
I'll get you pics, I've been given the additional work of being in charge of receiving and unloading trucks, so I'm getting up at about 530 in the morning and not even getting home till about 10 at nite, so I haven't had time to take pics since then, between that and the crap weather, AND try to stay on top of what's going on around the forum, but I will get the pics, I have been taking them!
Good to hear that somebody's busier than a one-armed paper hanger. Gotta keep the navel away from the spine, right?
Darn good at that at 250 lbs hahaha. I need my wagon just to haul my fat @$$ around! I just got promoted too, so I've been working extra hard at a harder job and going in earlier than usual and learning all kinds of new things, you know, all the complaining everyone does about their jobs, but at least I'm still workin' rite?
Here's some pics up to the point of dropping the engine in. The process got a bit sticky at this point and I didn't have time to step out for a second here or there to take more pics, but I will take more pics of where I am now, once the darn rain stops!
Cooool, and YES you should put seat belts in!. Wish I was closer to you I'd be interested in the old 235.
Nice teamwork, CE! Lookin' like you'll be "Seeing the USA in a Chevrolet" when that jingle was in fashion.
Ahh, seatbelts are for suckers! Well, I shouldn't say that, if I had them in my 60 Chevy, my back wouldn't be half-crippled now. Unfortunately this project has been sitting since my last post. Lack of funds. She may be going up for sale as-is.
That brings back way old memories. My dad had a '58 Biscayne 4-door sedan back in '60 to about '63.....I think it had a 283 in it...not sure.
I used to think that also about seat belts untill I witnessed something I wish I did'nt and I'll never forget, twuz ugly! Too bad about the funds (been there), hope you can hang on to it.
How can the distributor distribute if it's all plugged up? LOL Actually, I remember the car, but I have no picture in my head of the engine compartment. I'm only guessing it had the 283 because we drove all over in that car on vacations and such, and dad even delivered newspapers in it for a while. I think a 6 would have got tired..... Sheesh - I was only 9 when we got it........
Point taken. At 9 years old (gawd that's a long time ago 1957) My dad just bought a new 1957 Mercedes 180D (they were well made but cheap back then), and he kept telling me that it didn't have sparkplugs:confused:. Of course, I'd never seen a sparkplug either.
Hey, CE! The Driveshaft Shop! A little sidestory. When XEROX was looking for a corporate name, they wanted something that could be used in any country and without stomping on somebody's cultural sensitivities. Apparently XEREX was their first choice, but it was too close in pronunication to CERES (Cherry), so XEROX was chosen. Now the shortest poem that you can say forwards or backwards is, "Madam I'm Adam". But then you get a logical business name that says what they sell and do, in today's e-world, that's a major leap in commonsense! These guys have all kinds of tips on measuring, balancing, etc. http://www.driveshaftshop.com/index.php Here's the tips page: http://www.driveshaftshop.com/driveshaf-menu.php Hope it helps. EDIT: Check this site out too. They've got articles back to 1955 Chevy rearends in this thread too. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/transmission-rearend/
