Thanks Normie and Taranau. I'll be snapping lots of pics this weekend hopefully, since it will be pushing 50 degrees!!! And I will hopefully pull the motor this weekend if all goes to plan. (Sometimes women get in the way)

sometimes women get in the way

Lost a motor in my 74 Mustang II,because we only had enough money for an oil change OR a tune-up,not both...Against better judgement,we got the tune-up and ruined the engine...:(:pub:

SWMBO? You'll have to explain that one to me. Unfortunately, any time I need something for the wagon, this project suffers, because the wagon is my all-season driver and thus the priority. But if I can just muster up some cash and some friends willing to help, (they've been saying they'd help for a year plus now) I can get this baby road ready. So much for doing it by cruising season however.

Yup, but again, ol' dad is rocking the boat. I bought the dang thing from him, it hasn't moved but 200 feet from where it was sitting when I bought it from him, and now he doesn't want me to work on it on his property. We got into a big fight about it this morning.

I find it ironic because many times through my childhood, I remember the story of his 70 GMC that he did an engine swap in and he was doing it in the garage and his dad told him to push the truck outside. He always said how unfair it was and how his dad apologized after everyone chewed him out for it. Now, we have a 3-car garage and all I asked was to possibly use my mom's garage stall until she got back from work at 4. I told him I would put everything away at the end of the day, safe and sound. I got a no. Then I asked to do it by the garage, or even where it sits about 200 yards from the house in the woods, and my pop still says he ain't wild on it.....

This is the beginning of a new career. A diplomat is at the threshold. "He ain't wild" ISN'T an outright NO. You got wiggling room.

Help him with a couple of his pending tasks, and sit him down with a few brewskies for a fireside chat. Always worked for me.

Sometimes they just want to see if we're serious enough to finish what we start. Hence, the roadblocks. Good luck.

I know whatcha mean Normie, my buddy is bringing over all the gear to get the other motor degreased and ready to go and to dismantle the old 235. My pop should know I'm serious, since I had another friend trailer her out to yet another one of my friends' houses once before, only to have been sent back by his mother, who he did not ask as he had told me. (They only do mopars over there I guess, so I was SOL) I have many stories like this that I've went through with this car, plus the fact that I did pay my dad about a thousand dollars for it. He should know I'm serious. The man is just getting frustrating as he approaches 50. (No offense to some of ya here around that age, y'all are great guys)

    those dads

My dad got the family GM products, mostly, except for the 60 Country Squire.(and his two 60 NSU Sport Prinzes)And was not too happy when I got the 77 Dodge Aspen.Apparently,he hadn't been too impresed with MOPAR products for a while. Not sure why,I don't think he ever elaborated.

Well, we made progress today, my 283, which came from a 68 Chevy truck I had bought, was at our cabin and me and my buddy took the trans off and prepped her up. I got lots of pics!

Surprisingly enough, this motor has 60,000 original miles on it and is very clean! As can be seen in these pics.
