I'm wondering if the old starter just crapped out. Wouldn't that be a nice surprise for the lucky new owner.

That might be a blessing in disguise, if a destroyed engine would get the price down. In which case, a 394 hooked up to a THM-400 might turn out to be a pleasant remedy:

Could be so many things happened to the engine. I once bought a 1928 Model A Ford with a Ford garage rebuilt engine with very few miles on it because it was locked up.
Even back when I was young I was not a great mechanical whizz. But I'd read everything there was about Model A's and T's and heard sometimes the straight toothed starter and straight toothed flywheel gears would lock up if the engine kicked back a bit. Or just happened to catch wrong.
I bought that perfect Model A 2-door cheap with the intentions of using the engine in my 1931 A coupe with a knocking engine.
So, paying the older man cash, I had my wife or brother help rock it back and forth in high gear. A clunk and the starter was free to start. The old guy smiled and told me he was still happy his car was going to someone who knew how they operated. I drove it for years then sold it to my best friend.
Yes, the starter on this car could be locked up or a few bad rings or rod. No matter how bad it is, I'm sure a basic overhaul will get it on the road with that original engine. So buy it silverfox and let's go cruising.

    Green cars

About green cars. I've owned many ugly pea green cars. Especially 50's Buicks. Maybe that's why they were cheaper. A few I repainted but most I just drove them green. My 1949 Olds fastback and one VW Beetle were light green.Even my red 1955 Chevy Handyman was that pea green color.
Seems like most old Chevy trucks were what I called Farmer Green!

There was a green thing, that's for sure....

Growing up the 58 GMC truck and 65/66 Pontiac sedan on the farm was green, (so was the barn and house) I had a 69 and a few 68 Cougars on top of my 67 that were green, had a Fox body LTD wagon that was green, had a slant 6 Duster that was green, my old 65 GMC truck was green, my beteor wagon is green...my house is green.....my can of 7-UP is green...

....I better go cut down a tree just to make things rite! :bouncy:
