Well, I made the decision a couple weeks ago to sell the Metro. I put it on Craigslist with no interest from anyone. So I stuck it on Ebay and was amazed at the attention it got. I can't tell you how many phone calls and emails I got. It sold for $4150. Considering I paid $700 and put about another $1000 into it, I think I did alright. I hate to see it go but right now I need to get my priorities straight.

They got a deal. A delivery van in good condition is a potful of dough. (y)

Oh no, EF. I'm sorry to hear you sold it as I know how much you loved it. Oh well, the only constant in life, they say, is change. You've got some great memories from it, especially that trip from Colorado. Sounds to me like you did very well on the price. Congratulations.

Thanks guys. I'm glad I was able to resurrect it and enjoy it for the short time that I had it. The new owner is very excited and has restoration plans for it, so it's going to a good home. I was worried someone was going to make it into a catering truck and cut a bunch of holes in it. When time and money permit, I'll find another project. There's an old Ford delivery truck sitting in town and it's tempting. It's not as cool as the Metro though. Looks similar to this one

Not to mention it hauling your ass half-way across the country.
I'm sure you must've developed some type of bond on that trip. :whew:

You need to think how practical the metro really is tho. Do you have a business or a serious need for something like thast or is just to show the world you have something that isnt real common anymore. Myself , while its unique looking I just wouldnt have any need for it. Ive been kicking around the idea seriously about offing one of my cars myself. The burdon of owning 2 old cars is starting to wear on me. One of them always need something. Its a constant battle.

Well...I love that little Metro. Sorry to see it go, freek. I doubt you could ever replace it for that money. But, like you say, one has to get his priorities straight. Believe it or not, sometimes life actually IS more important than cars.:D

I did start a door installation business and if it wasn't for the fact that I had to drive 200 miles round trip to my supplier I would have kept the Metro. I've never liked having the same car everyone else has. I did pick up a replacement for the Metro last week. However it doesn't stand out like the Metro. It was enjoyable driving down the road and watching people stop what they are doing, nudge the person next to them and seeing the grins.
"New" van. I couldn't pass it up for $1,000
What it looked like when I picked it up:
