OMG! That is SO AWESOME!

Can you imagine how some kid in a Honda Civic with the fart can would say to to his friends....."SO I pulled up to this thing that looked like the Garthmobile from Waynes World.....and then he was gone.....I can't figure out how he did it?"

We've got the Jason Bourne series. They've got an item about what they call the GO-mobile platform they use for some of the chase scenes. Powered with a caddy 500 and 500 HP. They claimed it could run up to 146 MPH !!! I'd pity a fart can driver. He'd freak out. One blink and 'what was that!?!

The Pacer has a 2:87 Spool axle... so its hooks up good ,, using old school Lakewood J bolt traction bars. lots of fun!

 

Fun? FUN!? Damn...that car would raise my blood pressure past the danger zone! I LOVE sleepers and this one is VERY well done. NICE JOB caddipacer!!

 

So which gauge moves faster? The tach or the fuel gauge?

I can't believe you crammed that mill in there, but I know it is. Did you use the big persuader or bash the tin into shape?

 

Stormin, The tach moves faster,,, this kinda car I dont care about milage,,,, Actually no bashing or moving of metal on the body... just cut out crossmember to accept the cad oil pan design.. of course reinforced,,, then we connected the frame rails with 2x2 -1/4 inch thick tubing ,, very rigid... has 3 electric fans,, 2 pullers & 1 pusher on thermostats & manual override switches.

 

It's the best Sleeping Beauty and Beast I've ever seen.

I was just curious what your inspiration was for this project, and why the use of the Cadillac motor? Was it because that's what you had sitting around, or a "what if you took a ............." idea?

That's a GOOD question, Krash. I was wondering the same thing but then thought..."probably wanted the most cubes possible". I mean, hey. Who'd believe you when you said I have an old Pacer wagon....it's got a 500 cui engine? Yeah, right...SURE you do......

KRASH: The Inspriation started : as a AMC diehard,, much older now 63 years,,, after owning 200 AMCs / Ramblers/ Nashs since 1969( some parts cars),,, And built a Nash street rod ( amc 304) just sold 4-09..
I decided to build a mild mannerd car by using the largest production cid-engine ( 500 inches) that still uses 8.7 octane,, with a plethora of low end torque,,, and the Car America "pokes FUN at" the PACER, then brainstormed the idea,, I had access to a Pacer wagon,, so bought a complete ELDO cad for $500 that ran, freshin up the engine and in 9 months I was driving.

 

Is it a heavy motor or comparable to the ones that AMC offered back then?

If you ever come to Canada, watch out for those intersection speed cameras. You'd owe the farm. That's about all that would stop me from doing that to my wagon. Well the engine weight too. My wife would cut my feet and hands off if the Mail-in tickets started looking like Mortgage payments. With that engine, that would be a given.

 

Heavy!!! I have swapped other AMCs,, 401 in a Pacer back in 1990,,
so in the books its about 84 lbs. more than a AMC s 401, AMC v8 has a high amount of nickel in the block. I'm still using the 6 cly springs,, bottoms out on rare steep bumps.. not bad,,, I can live with that.
