I have looked at this wagon. I think I just need to buy it. Original paint except LF fender and spot in center of hood. Runs well, A/C works well, interior original and nice. 400 with TH400 trans. No third seat. Current owner 7 years. Ownership back to original purchaser. Receipts. Brakes and gas tank done. Someone tell me I need to buy it and what do you think is a good price?

Pyasher, that is one beautiful Buick and all original to boot. Be sure to check very carefully around the windows in the roof and make sure there's no rust. Both the Sport Wagons and Vista Cruisers have a tendency to deteriorate around the "sky rooves", and they're a pain in the neck to repair properly. This one, from the pictures, looks fine.
These wagons are bringing big bucks. In my, albeit uneducated, opinion, I don't think $14,500 is unrealistic. Of course, always try to negotiate, but it does seem to be in extraordinary condition. Interesting that it doesn't have the wood, although I would guesstimate at least 1/2 of them didn't. That's a total guess on my part, but it seems to me I remember seeing just as many of them back then without the dinoc as with.
Life is too short. Go out and buy the darned thing.

I was in a car pool at work for years. The man I rode with had two cars. One a Buick much like this one. I ended up driving it and getting my ride free. I think the others only paid a few dollars anyway. But I loved driving that Buick. It handled great in snow or anything.
Pyasher wouldn't you rather have a Buick?

Snooterbuckets - I spent a good deal of time looking at it - no rust anywhere. The headliner shows no signs of water around the windows. I think it does not have the wood because it is such a low option car. (no power windows, am radio and manual rear window) It does have P/S, P/B and A/C.

CatmodelT - I would rather have a Buick- nice smooth ride!

    Gas millage is a concern?
I really plan to drive it in nice weather...

Gas mileage - it is not going to get mid 20's most likely, but could get high teens, possibly better. Depends on state of tune, how you drive it, etc. But figure it out - if you put 3,000 miles a year on it, the cost is not going to be that great compared to any other nice collector type car, and probably less than most.

Given you don't have to spend money on a restoration, you are already bucks up. And when you are done with it the resale value should remain quite high.

This is one of the nicer ones I've seen for sale in quite a while and no rust, no leaks, nice color that is not too common, seems like a wise purchase to me. (y)

Safari57 I would be thrilled with mid teens. My fear is sub 10. Anyone have a Buick with a 400?

I do believe I could always just sell it without loss of $ - however it has been for sale for months.

With a Pontiac 455 x 30 thou over bore, 3:90 rear end, PS/PB, pulling my Airstream I get 11 to 12.5 mpg in the '57. I drive what ever the speed limit is and live in BC so lots of BIG hills. When I happen to be driving 60'ish :)162:) without the trailer I have hit 17, but then I realized I was going slow and cured that problem real quick :rofl2:

I don't know yet what the mileage will be with the new engine and the 700R4 overdrive trans but so far just breaking everything in I am already very pleased with the mileage.

Great numbers for a 455 - maybe I am the problem. I love the sound of a four barrel at full song!

man that is a nice one! Pricing, well, they all go up and we'll see more and more pricing like this in the future for clean cars like it. If no mechanical issues might be worth a try at 10-11K and I do not think you would loose anything over time. IMHO

I spent a good deal of time looking at the wagon again today. The A/C compressor is not working (made a bearing type noise then the clutch kicked out) and I found runs in the paint on the Dashboard. Anyone ever see runs in the paint on the dash from the factory?

Our son bought a rebuilt AC compressor at O Rileys for a decent price.
