    The welcome wagon

When you make your intro please tell us something about yourself and your wagon if you already have one or what you want to get. Saying "hello my name is" is not a good intro. If you go into more detail then all of us will feel like we know more about you and then can relate to you. We aren't here to critize you for what you have. We are here to celebrate wagons. So if you are coming here you either have one or want one. All of that makes you one of us. So please be descriptive.

Welcome and good luck on the gas tank. I believe I'd check with ROCK AUTO. Their prices are usually around $100-$150 but you'd still need the sending unit.

Welcome to the Nuthouse we call home. The Fairlane sounds like a GREAT wagon. The neat thing is that mechanically, it is the same car as your Mustangs, to you must be pretty familiar with them by now! The thing that will make it some easier to find the tank is that the same tank was also used over several models, over several years. The Falcon, Fairlane and Comet/Montego wagons from (I believe) 65 through 69 all used the same body shell, so the tanks and sending units will be the same ones. Check a Hollander's Manual to be sure of the exact years of interchangeability. That may stretch forward into the 70/71 model years as well, although the Torino/Montego underwent quite a revamp. Cat has a great idea, though. Check Rock Auto. It should not be that difficult to find, I would not think. The other option is to check with your local parts store, preferably one that has been in business a long time. They may surprise you and have NOS tanks in the store room. Their supplier may have old stock kicking around, too. I needed gas tank straps for a 78 Thunderbird, and the gas tank supplier just happened to have a set on a shelf that they had almost given up hope of ever selling.

Do those gas tanks mount in the quarter panel like my LTDII wagon did? Good luck!

Welcome Tom (and Beau) to the SWF.

I would suggest start thinking about finding an entire wagon parts vehicle, instead of looking for just a tank. It actually might be easier. Hazarding a guess, I would think any mid-size Ford or Mercury wagon from '66-'71 (or maybe later) should work.

    Good luck with your search.

Also: Found a company that makes A/M gas tanks - Spectra. Nothing listed for Fairlane wagons, but maybe their tech support can help you...
