So just for fun i'm going to put a wagon on the road after 12 years in a pole barn.Brakes, brakelines, tune up oil change and drive about 1400 miles in 3 days. That should be a good shakedown cruise! Northern Michigan to rochester New York, drop the kid at school, run to see Alienwagon in ohio and pick up a new tailgate, then back home. All in 72 hours.......ROLLIN HARD N SPORTIN WOOD!!!!!!!!!!:jumping:

You're a braver man than I. I'm still a bit hesitant to give the Way Back Machine a real road trip. Good Luck!

Marshall, you need to get the way back machine OUT and on the open road! That car is is wonderful condition and now is the perfect time to prove it. There is nothing like having an old car humming away under and around you, as you cover vast distances. Once the mechanical systems have been checked, enjoy! That is the entire point of a wagon, after all.

I see your from Houghton Lake. Do you by chance know Dave & Scott over at Marine Services Unlimited? They are doing the restorations on my boats. If you want to see an awesome 1962 Buehler Turbocraft, just stop on by and tell them Rick sent you.

That's the way to do it! I never did a 1400 mile trip but several 500 mile ones and the rush for the first 100 or so miles monitoring everything and listening for strange noise from the car! Then by about mile 200 kicked back waving to people checking out your ride! Last one I did was my dad's Malibu. Our maiden voyage was around 500 miles in it. That was going on 3 years ago....that's the kind of great memories I am making with him!

About 12 years ago my buddy and I loaded up a freshly painted but basically untested '65 ford county sedan wagon and gave it a 4000 mile"test run". One of my fondest memories was wakin up in the wagon in the hills of kentucky with a bear standing on the hood.......now That's a wake up call!

I remember waking up in Michigan with a large Racoon on the hood. But I believe me and that bear would have done some bear wrestling for standing on a fresh painted hood.:thumbs2:
