I am still new here but I keep getting a prompt to down load a inbox. Is it from the site or a scam. I am very computer leery about such things. I just want to make sure before I take action. Thanks
You probably have a message in your inbox. Skip the prompt and just click on "private messages" in the upper right hand corner of the forum heading. Once you've looked at the private message (probably from another member here) you probably won't see the prompt again till the next time someone messages you.
I usually get a small box saying incoming message. Then follow the directions to see what it is. Also up in right top is the place that shows PRIVATE MESSAGES. I've never had any problems. I do delete any Spam in my email when I don't know who it is.
Thanks for the help. I checked my private message and nothing there. I still get a white envelope with a tab that says messages. So I'm still confused.
I think what you are seeing is an advertisement. I just saw the same thing as the banner ad at the top of the page.
??????? Now I know what he saw. I was seeing that too at times. What amazes me is I had checked a lot of Black Friday adds for TV's, patio furniture, cars, etc. Now I get local and back in Illinois adds for those things across the top and sometimes the bottom. This computer stuff is amazing. That still does not explain those pretty girls I've been seeing wanting mates that have been posted ever since I got internet. Really they are not that ugly! And some of them are only 2.1 miles from my house.
You guys need a Host Blocker. Stops all the ads from loading. I check for a new version every 2 months. Piece of cake to install, written by Microsoft gurus. Been using it since they started for Windows 2000 and XP.: http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm
Ah, you might be seeing the corrupted image code. Happens when the image file gets stepped on by another file. Defragment your hard drive(s). Go to Computer, select which drive, but don't click, use the Right hand mouse button, click on Properties. When that box comes up, click the Tools tab, and click Defragment... Another box comes up, and lets you do it. It can take about an hour on a large drive, the first time. After that it might take 10 to 15 minutes. I have 2 drives. One for file storage (E), and one (C) for all the active programs I use. I Defrag D, about once a month (downloaded youtube How-Tos and E-magazine videos (Cars, Woodworking, etc.) And my active C-drive once a week. Works like a charm.
