Incredibly rare Cadillac. 43k miles for $5000. Gorgeous car! https://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/cto/4690174010.html
Hope the tire iron comes with the car. If you get a flat you're going to need it for sure to swap tires on the rim.
Unfortunately yes. No wonder it's been in a garage for 30 years. I'd say negotiate a price drop and put a 455 or 454 in it. It looks flawless aside from the dud engine and bumper fillers.
That tire that is in the trunk is there to no purpose. It is not an original tire to the car, it is merely an old tire that should be disposed of. Uniroyal Royal Seal tires did not hit the market until a few years after this car was built.
Why put in any Chebby engines? Or any engine at all? If you replace it, put in a 425 or 500 Caddy engine, but barring that, just disconnect/disable the solenoids and drive it like you stole it.
If you disable the displacement-on-demand that 6.0 is a fine motor. I used to work with a former Caddy dealer mechanic named Tom Collins (no joke!) and he had a 6.0 '81 slantback Seville that he adored. He said once they went off warranty, they would, with the customer's approval, disable the modular displacement system and then the cars were great! He HATED the diesels and the later 4.1 V8 cars. Said the 4.1's came back early as 20K miles with loose head bolts, worn camshafts, and even when they ran right they were gutless. He also said the transmissions on the 4.1 V8 cars were garbage. It's funny, since I'm totally threadjacking here. He said that Caddy offered a 4.1 Buick V6 in the early 80's, and those were great motors and actually had more power than the 4.1 V8's did. He said GM would have just kept using the V6, but people demanded a V8 in a Cadillac...the V6 sold poorly, but those that did sell had happy customers. -Mike
Mike and Silvertwinkie maybe you actually helped someone consider buying the Caddy since the engine management can be disarmed. I for one didn't know it could be done. The Dodge hemi is like that after I got mine, beginning with 2005. If I wanted a four or six I'd bought something else.
