What a beauty! I notice one rarely sees these with the manual transmission. I wonder what the production figures were for the 4-cyl with auto v.s. manual.

I can't find anything about auto vs. manual (I didn't spend that much time on Google), but production volumes for the '73 Pinto were (according to the "Standard Catalog of Ford", 4th Edition):

    2-dr. Sedan: 116,146
    2-dr. Runabout: 150,603
    2-dr. Station Wagon: 217,763

Would be interesting to know too how many Pinto Squires were produced.

I'm surprised by those figures. Never would have guessed the wagon outsold the other two models.

Initially, the Pinto was only available as the 2-door coupe in '71, it's first year. I believe the Runabout (hatchback) was introduced mid-year '71. The wagon was introduced mid-year '72.

You know, for all the whiners out there that call the Pinto a "flop", a "deathtrap", and whatever other BS adjectives they can conjure up, the Pinto (and the Bobcat) was a HUGE financial success for Ford! Sold from 1971 through 1980 - ten model years. Yup, a huge disappointment there, for certain.

Very nice little wagon! If it had a damn manual trans, I might have been tempted to bid on this.
