HandyAndy and I were out checking if our only local Fairmont Squire donor wagon was out for us to pick clean. It wasn't. So we have to check on Tuesday. Monday is a holiday. Little bit of rust under the tailgate window. Love those dogdish hubcaps. Blue interior. Nice condition. The car had the transit license in the Windshield, and the North Dakota Hot Rod Association plate on the front, and an NHRA plate in the back. Nice car.
Ha, no, just a couple of guys like us, with good taste, out scrounging the yards. Those cars were in awesome condition.
Interesting observation I just discovered. Reference the Mercury Bobcat Vlllager above. It looked odd to me. It appeared to have Ford 'Country Squire' wood and moldings on the side, instead of the darker 'Mercury' wood with chrome moldings.... Here's an older version of the Bobcat Villager. Notice how it duplicates the normal 'Mercury' look.... For reference, here's a Pinto Squire of the same vintage..... So as to the original vehicle in question, I thought that either someone went to a lot of trouble putting 'CS' wood on a Bobcat wagon, or turned a Pinto Squire into a Bobcat by changing the hood and grill.... Not so. Apparently, for the last years of the Pinto and Bobcat, the 'woodys' were the same. Here's a stock internet photo.... It appears to have the 'CS' wood and light woodgrain surround moldings instead of chrome moldings.........
Knew it as soon as I saw it, but had to double check cuz I was shocked! Don't see one of those everyday.
